I purchased the Xtool A30M after researching a number of scan tools in the $500 - $800 price range, and quickly learned that for my car, they performed essentially the same tests and functions as the A30M. I used my newly purchased A30M with my inexpensive 10" tablet and was pleasantly surprised with all of the capabilities that were available for my Hyundai Sonata. Most importantly, it allowed me to troubleshoot and determine which of two keyless system modules was defective, causing my car's keyless entry/start system's failure. Interestingly, two local Hyundai service departments quoted $225 - $250 just to scan my car's OBII network! After the A30M displayed three DTC's for the module causing the keyless system's failure, I explored all of the other system tests and functions available for my car. Quite frankly, I was surprised with the myriad of tests, diagnostics, and data available; everything including engine performance and efficiency, transmission performance, anti-pollution system performance, SRS data, turbocharger data, lighting operation, accessory performance, and much more. While using the tool, I especially appreciated its time saving automatic VIN ID capability, its wireless connectivity which allowed me to monitor bi-directional tests while outside of the vehicle, and a handy report generating feature which automatically saves the scan results to memory and allows for hardcopy report printing. All in all, the A30M proved to be an amazing technology packed, easy to use diagnostic tool, at a very low price! In my opinion, this powerful tool is an absolute must-have for automotive DIY'ers, technicians, and professionals as well.Of course a huge bonus of owning this diagnostic tool is the free updates which are frequent. Other scan tools usually charge hundreds of dollars each year for updates. For me, buying Xtool's A30M was a no brainer, and I know that I'll be using it for years to come because today's vehicles are loaded with failure prone electronic modules and controllers that require a professional grade scan tool like the A30M to troubleshoot. Thanks Xtool for a genuinely great product!

I had a problem with my Infiniti QX80 rear air suspension that was sagging. I realized this when I kept hitting my head on the rear hatch and wondering why it was not raising as high as it used to. After reading similar issues, I replaced the air compressor which did not fix the problem. At this point, I was pretty sure it was the height sensor but that required a bidirectional scanning tool to diagnosis and install.I looked at numerous scanners. I have three vehicles and wanted something that could work with all of them at a reasonable cost. To say it was difficult to compare scanners would be an understatement. I needed something that could work with a 2006 Saab, 2013 Jeep and 2017 Infiniti. I spent hours researching. For anyone else, here is how I broke it down:- Bidirectional? Decide on whether you just want to know what the issue is and have a chance of fixing a simpler problem or whether you want all the information, testing abilities and best chances of fixing the problem.- How many vehicles? Many scanners will only work with one make. Some will allow you to add another for a cost but many had a two vehicle limit.- How many systems? Many of the scanners were limited in the number of systems on your vehicle that they would work with. Some will only look at brakes and airbags. Some will add additional systems such as steering, tires, etc. Oftentimes, the only way to know what systems are supported is to go directly to the website and enter your vehicle information and the scanner information. This was a royal PITA.- Updates? Many scanners would only give updates for a limited time and then charge you for additional updates.Overall, this was a mess. I finally decided on the XTool A30M. It worked with my phone so I could use it while walking around the vehicle, under the vehicle, or sitting comfortably in the vehicle. It has an active support with numerous updates. Updates are free for life. I can use it on multiple vehicles and have tested it on my Jeep, Saab and Infiniti.I used it to diagnose my rear suspension and determined it was the height sensor. I ordered a new one and installed it. The A30M did not have the system tool to calibrate the height sensor so I emailed their support. I received a reply within 24 hours over the weekend. I sent them a copy of the shop manual with the functions required to calibrate the height sensor. They promised an update within a week. In a few days, I received the update and was able to successfully calibrate the height sensor as described in the shop manual. Absolutely superior customer service.Overall, I cannot recommend this scanner enough. It supports multiple vehicles including a 2006 Saab, 2013 Jeep and 2017 Infiniti. It supports all of the diagnostic systems on the vehicles with the ability to view live data, read codes, actuate devices, and calibrate devices. Customer service was phenomenal with rapid response, super fast updates, and awesome follow up. It was just a pleasure to work with.

I've owned the Anyscan A30M for over a year and thought it was great for the money. I used it with my IPad. I used it to help fix a couple of my cars and some friend's cars. The bi-directional and live data features made this a very useful tool and much better than most other scanners in the price range. The updates were free, without needing a subscription, which made this a very cost effective scanner. Then it just stopped working when I really needed it. It would not communicate with my Ipad. I went to the Xtool website but there was no mention of any problems so I thought it was a problem with my A30M. Since I liked the device so much and had a car with some issues, I immediately bought a new one but this new one had the same problem so I wrote to Xtool to tell them there may be a problem with their device. I learned the problem was caused by a software update. They emailed me that the experts were working on a fix and it will be working again in a couple of days. That was over two weeks ago and my new A30M is still not working with my Ipads. There was an update for the app (6.2.1) on the Apple store. I deleted my old version of the App and got the latest version but now It has a new problem. It gives a bluetooth failure error during startup. It still will not communicate with my Ipads. I have three Ipads and none of them can communicate with the A30M. I tried an old Samsung tablet that I had and I was able to get the A30M working. I still have a few issues even with the Samsung, but at least it works. It has been very frustrating trying for a couple of weeks to get it to work with my Ipads. If you have a Android tablet you may be in luck but if you want to use it with an Ipad you may have some problems. Xtool emailed me that everyone else have gotten their A30M working again (but not me). Such a shame for what was a once a fantastic tool. If they come up with a fix that actually works with an Ipad, I'll update my review.Update**** It works with my Ipad again. This after I bought a new Samsung tablet for the device. I couldn't wait any longer so I ended up buying the Samsung Tablet to get the A30M to work. I had not been able to use the device for about three weeks and I had a Jeep in need of repair so I bought an Android tablet. Xtool kept in touch and kept helping with my old Ipad and yesterday, after deleting the APP for the third time, rebooting my Ipad and reloading the App onto the Ipad, they finally connected. I was happy because I really like my Ipad Pro but after using both the Android and the Ipad, I think I'm going to keep using the Samsung because it seems to work a little better with the A30m. I also like the interface between the A30M and the Android (Samsung) better. I was very happy with the Xtool support. I think I emailed them just about everyday and they always answered back quickly. They never gave up trying to help. I'll rate the A30M 5 stars in the future if it keeps working.

I'm not going to comment on the other 2 brands of scanners that I purchased before the Xtool as I have written reviews already for them , they were 2 of the popular brands.. Feel free to look at my other reviews to see why I was disappointed and ended up returning them . Had I known how Xtool was going to be, I would have started with them first. Here are the requirements that I had for a scanner when I started the hunt.Support for detailed diagnosis capability on2004 Jeep WJ Grand Cherokee2012 Jeep MK Compass2018 Subaru Outback 2.52018 Volvo XC90 t5I also wanted active functions to release the EPB on the 2, 2018 vehicles that were equipped with EPB. Backing off the EPB is required in order to replace brake pads. I also wanted ABS bleed functionality where available since getting old fluid or air out of ABS is a bit of a pain without being able to activate the ABS pump. I wanted to view detailed live data for all vehicles. My initial search focused on handheld scanners that had their own screen and I wanted to keep it under $500 . The first device from Xtool that I was focused on the was the D7 and then I came across the A30M . I read some reviews and reached to support to confirm functionality for my VINs. Support has been terrific and far better than the other 2 companies I had previously bought scanners from. Once it was determined that the A30M would work for me I purchased. It arrived in 2 days. Here is the beauty of the A30M that got me away from the need for a device with a screen. The Anyscan app includes lifetime updates and it works on anything running Android 5 and above. This allowed me to bust out an ancient 7 year old Samsung 10" tablet that was on the shelf and use it as a dedicated garage tablet. Honestly, this tablet was on it's way to the recycling pile before I found a way to reuse it. I know, android 5 is probably security swiss cheese at this point. I just created a dedicated Google account for the garage and have that on the tablet so there is nothing sensitive there. The Anyscan app is large , 1.1gb, and the updates are even larger. It takes a while to download all of the updates but this is no different than pulling updates for any other scanner brand. Since I had limited storage on the Samsung tablet I just downloaded the common updates for things like ABS, fuel, SAS, etc along with vehicle specific updates for vehicles I regularly work on . There are certain vehicle brands that I will never work on but it's good to know I could download Lamborghini if I ever needed to.After being burned by the 2 other scanner brands I went right to work testing the A30M on my 4 vehicles. I am happy to report that it does everything I need . Every function isn't available on every vehicle but that is with all scanners. I had over 20 back and forth emails with support over various features for the D7 as well as the A30M to check their availability for my vehicles. The emails were all followed up with overnight and there was a clear answer to my question. I've seen some reviews that have complaints about the speed of the scanner. Being that I have a 14 year span of the vehicles at my house I can tell you that the speed of the computer in the vehicle is the issue, not the scanner. Scanning my 2018 vehicles is zippy quick, even for live data. My 2004 Jeep, I honestly thought the app had frozen but it took over a minute to pull live data. This was repeatable across all 3 scanners I have tried. In conclusion, if you are looking for a portable scanner with no subscription fees that can be used across multiple vehicles and even multiple tablets/phones this is the winner. It's also great to know that their is reliable and friendly support available if you need it. A must have for DIY garage

I bought this and a Lenovo tablet and rugged cover to use it with, I'm a professional tech (master for 30 years, L1 for 16).This has some cons, I think for what you get it's worth dealing with them. Here are some of the features I really like and bought the tool for.The adapter is pretty nice, not just a rehashed ELM or some other Bluetooth, it has a light, seems to link up and have really good speed. It's bidirectional, and can mostly read every module on a vehicle (I'm in the USA so your experience may differ). It has an autoscan feature that works pretty well. I only get out a factory tool (or equivalent from a big name tool manufacture that costs 6000-9000 US) on occasion, normally I am just pulling a code, then running down some things manually, maybe taking a peek at pattern failures and making a plan of attack from there. I have fixed thousands of cars just with a cheap dongle in my top left pocket and my cell phone, but this has actual features. The autoscan is fast, you can connect, let it identify the car which usually works very well, do an auto scan, maybe take a quick peek at the data for some more info, then when you back out to the main menu save a report which you can email to a customer, or to yourself and prink out for the customer (which is what I do). It's pretty feature packed, does a LOT of what a higher priced tool can do. Data seems pretty good. Are there cons? Of course. The updates take a century to download and install. Sometimes the program itself freezes and you have to manually shut it down to get going again. There is no "Home" butten or link so to get back to the opening menu you literally have to hit the back button however many steps you are away from it, it's REALLY annoying and not well thought out. Some of the more simple tests or activations, e brake retraction etc, do not work well at all (sometimes they just don't).The "voltage" on the dongle... yeah just do yourself a favor and stick a piece of electrical tape right over that useless thing. It's ALWAYS wrong, and I verified this by testing voltage at the connector like ten different times, using a couple different devices (Power probe with a digital, DVOM, etc. Just don't let yourself be sucked down the rabbit hole because of that meter. Trust me I know! All the negatives aside, I don't think you can get a better unit for the price this sells for, and even less money if you already have a tablet, or you want to use a cell phone etc. I have old eyes so I got a tablet. Even with that expense this was totally worth the money. BUT, if you are looking for a professional scanner, this isn't really what you want. I got this to augment the good scanners and have a fast easy interface to get a partial read on what's going on on a better screen, get some bidirectional features, etc. Not as a go it alone scanner. But it's good.
