Probes delivered were completely different from the photos shown for the product. The probes look more like nails and didn’t have treads so you could attach them to the moisture meter. Buyer beware!

They need a bit of sharpening, but otherwise I prefer them to the ones included with my moisture meter. They are much cheaper than the branded ones, less susceptible to bending, and read the same as the originals. I would suggest them as a replacement.

I inspect buildings for moisture damage. I have used these probe extenders a few times now. At first I thought they cost too much. After using them, I am glad I bought them. I am older and disabled. These extenders help me to reach into confined spaces without crawling. Also, I can reach ceilings without a ladder. They are perfect for reaching under baseboards without stooping. They save time & work on the job, plus add safety because you are not going to get stuck in a tight space, or cut your hand on a sharp nail hanging down where it shouldn't be. These extenders are of great quality and are not flimsy or weak. They are made of a heavy material that is quite sturdy. You can attach just one to your probes, or both for a longer reach. They will fit your 290-ep pin probe and your 290-bp baseboard probe. They are convenient, helpful and work equally well with either probe. I recommend these for anyone, not just those with limited moibility like myself. They are well worth the price!

I would recommend this probe for any building inspector using the MO290 series of moisture detectors.I had some issues with this product at first. I found out that the Cat 5 plug did not make a firm connetion due to misalignment of wires inside the plug.However, I called Extech and they made everything right with me instantly. You just cant beat Extech quality and thier perfect service department.I inspect buildings for moisture damage. You have to have the right tool for the job. This is the right tool for probing tight areas and reaching into small areas between studs or probing through sheetrock, etc. I keep one set of long pins that I have bent into a curve, to reach downward toward an unseen sill plate through tiny holes I drill in the panelling or sheetrock. They are great for metering moisture in wall insulation and even carpet and pad. You can change out the 3" pins for 8" pins for different tasks. They've paid for themselves many times over. I am sold on Extech equipement and I recommend these very useful probes. Be careful, they are sharp.
