For Wii nunchuks, Classic Controllers, and many other devices (including Guitar Hero instruments, the uDraw tablet, and NES/SNES Mini controllers) these adapters make it easy to connect to a microcontroller.I was able to whip up a program using the NintendoExtensionCtrl library, to display the status of connected controllers on a TTGO T-Display (ESP32-based). The connections are 3.3V, GND, clock, and data. You may have to specifically set the pins you're using for I2C in your code. But you don't need any other hardware to make it work.This should be compatible with Arduino, ESP8266, ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico, and other popular development boards. The only potential issue is software support. But there's probably a library out there for your board of choice already. And if not, there is enough example code out there that should help you get started.The adapters themselves are almost trivial, just a circuit board with some pin headers (and corresponding holes). My only sorta complaint is they're a bit pricey, but considering you get a 5 pack at ~$4 per adapter, it's not too big of a deal. Also, it would be nice if there were screw holes or some kind of mounting options. Although I guess in a pinch you can always glue the board to something, for a more permanent mount.

I enjoy messing around with small electronics. I saw this Wii IC2 adapter and thought it would be fun to try out. There aren't any instructions, however, the pins are labeled +, -, c, and d. I correctly guessed that this meant power, ground (GND), clock (SCL), and data (SDA). I attached this to my Raspberry Pi Pico and a Wii Classic controller. I was able to use Circuit Python to read out the state of the controller. The board stays firmly in place while using the gamepad, however, it is easy to unplug the gamepad when necessary.I love that this comes with 5 adapters. This gives me a lot of flexibility in adding Wii accessory support to my projects.

Definitely something I’ll Be using instead of building a controller for my project from now on and it’s just cool using the wii nunchucks for controllers
