They are bolts and they work as described. There are two oddballs in the pack. One has a round stud on top and goes on the furthest front left that the a/c and motor mount bracket slips over. The other oddball bolt has a threaded stud and is installed directly to the right of the rounded head bolt. This one is only used for the California Emissions vehicles....the bracket for the air check valve gets attached to this one. If you forget to use it in this spot it's really not a big deal...the check valve really doesn't need to be bolted down. The rounded one DEFINITELY needs to be put back in the right spot if the bracket is on your type of car. (mine was a 2002 Rendezvous)
