I do a lot of cutting in my sewing business, and though it took me a while to try this alternative to scissors, I'm glad I did. Cutting with the roller is easy, and saves a lot of time. Good buy.

Amazing product - quick delivery and exactly what I needed for an extra set of "good" fabric scissors and rolling cutter.

I've been doing quilting for 15 years and occasional other sewing for far longer. As with any craft, the end result is a reflection of the quality of your tools (plus your skill in using them, of course). In addition, there are some items where you can't have enough, because you want 'em to hand; in the kitchen that means several measuring spoons, and in the sewing room it means multiple sets of scissors or rotary cutters....Which is a long-winded confession explaining why I have at least five rotary cutters and at least a half dozen pair of sewing scissors. (Let's not talk about paper scissors or kitchen shears. Look, when your hobbies involve cutting things up and rearranging them in a decorative manner, you need lots of tools.)In any case, it was easy to say YES when Amazon Vine offered me this set of three basic items: a rotary cutter, scissors, and "detail knife" (a.k.a. Exacto knife). And while there's nothing particularly wrong with the set, I consider it merely adequate. That's not a knock on Fiskars, which is a reputable brand. But this bargain-priced set demonstrates that you get what you pay for.The scissors are... okay. I'm more likely to designate them for paper scissors than cloth, though. Long ago I invested in top-end scissors for sewing, specialized for cutting fabric or embroidery floss. Perhaps that's made me picky, but you'd be surprised what a difference you get from using quality shears.I rarely use a "detail knife" for any use, so I don't have an opinion about its efficacy. Perhaps it's used more often in home decor, but I never needed one when I made seat cushions or a shower curtain.Mostly I wanted this set for its large-size rotary cutter, which I hoped would live up to the promise of cutting through upholstery fabric or other tough stuff. And it's... fussy. My most-often-used rotary cutter (which happens to be from Martelli) clicks open-and-closed with the simplicity of clicking on a pen. This one requires deliberate attention, and I can't get the cutting blade to spin as it should. I'm sure I can fuss with it some more, but I'm not particularly motivated to do so. If I were willing to wrestle with another set of seat cushions, I think I'd mark the fabric and cut it with scissors. If you're just getting started, I suggest that you avoid the "starter kit" and instead buy a single quality rotary cutter. You can suffer with cheaper scissors for a while, and then purchase a truly good quality set. (Or, come on. What are Amazon wish lists for?)
