Made 3 trips to national retailer purchasing 3 flappers ranging in price from $10 to $25. All three were returned as they did not seal the water tank. After reading the reviews on this flapper I thought it was worth a try at its price. Installed over a week ago and water bowl is no longer leaking. Great product at a very reasonable price.

I've installed all sorts of parts into many toilets over the years, including many flappers. Most have worked fine, but lately I've had problems with 2 toilets. No matter what I did, they kept doing tiny flushes - just enough to reduce the color of the water. I even got a flapper with an adjustable float on it that was supposed to let me lengthen the time the valve is open, but it barely worked at first, and after a couple months didn't work at all.So... I ended up looking again for potential replacements, and came across this one. Too cheap, I thought, it couldn't possibly be any good. But it was a known brand, so I gave it a try. Some background - my Briggs toilets were installed new in 2001, and are 1.6 gallons per flush (or 6 lpf). They still use the original flush mechanism with that big floaty thing on the arm. I think the only thing I've replaced on these toilets is the flappers now and then, the seats, and a couple of flush handles/arms.Putting these flappers into the 2 toilets was super easy. The hardest part was cutting off the circle mounts, because like most toilets these days, mine use the 2 ear mounts. I used a specialty cutter I happen to own. A razor blade or sharp knife should work. A sharp scissors might also work (be careful though, the rubber twists). Then just slip the old one off and the new one into place. It is easier with the water valve off, but not absolutely necessary as you can do it in seconds. Then just connect the adjustable length chain to the handle arm. These flappers stay up long enough for a full flush - problem solved.DO cut off the circle if your toilet uses the arms to mount. Even if it seems to work at first with the circle in place around the tube, or pushed behind it, eventually as the rubber hardens it can affect the flushing time. In fact, I once fixed a toilet by taking out the old flapper, cutting off the circle, and putting it back in. Suddenly it worked correctly again.Unless you have had a problem with your toilet using too much water, this flapper should work in most toilets that use flappers. It comes down when the water gets near the bottom, so regardless of the tank capacity, in most cases that should be just what is needed. Now ... if like me you aren't sure about the fit, here are the flapper measurements. Well, first, the hole in my toilet under the flapper is about 2" across. If yours is 3", don't get this flapper. 2" is much more common in my experience. The ball on the flapper bottom that goes into the hole is about 1 5/8". The flapper rim is about 3" across. The insides of the ears are 1 3/8" apart. The distance from the center of the ball to the point between the middle of the ear holes is 2 3/8". Finally, the chain is 10" long but you can resize it to anything shorter (and will probably need to).Once last note - in one of my toilets, after putting in one of these new flappers, it was leaking a tiny bit. I just wiped around the hole under the flapper to clean off a little residue and that resolved it.These are great flappers at an amazing value. Highly recommended!

The price was awesome, but what really mattered to me is the way this goes around the cylinder-shaped thingy that the refill water goes into fill the tank and how it also goes around the two little plastic thingies at its base instead of just snapping in place. The last things was made of a harder rubber and did not stay in place at all very well after flushing. It drove the kids and me batty. Two so-called handymen, a landlord, and a pain in the neck ex-husband failed each time they claimed to have fixed it. This went on for years. Now here I am on a very ridiculously tight budget trying to make ends meet. Saw this for less than a couple bucks and figured I would give it a shot. It is made of a much softer rubber and does a most excellent job sealing the big hole thingy that empties water from the tank into bowl when flushing the stinky stuff away. Installed it myself and felt quite proud of myself when the kiddos noticed and thanked me. No man required. Yippee!!!!

Fits the hole size but length too short for Toto WC. Improvised with industrial rubber bands and cable tie to make it functional.

No es tan universal como dicen, ya funciona bien, pero no se adaptó a mi WC, quedaba muy alto y no hacia el sello correctamente, le tuve que cortar una parte para que bajara bien y ya funcionara.

The flapper had a strong chemical-rubber smell that permeated the package in which it was shipped (even though the flapper is in a plastic bag). but luckily the smell did not stay in the other object in my shipment--I wonder about other objects that might be in someone else's shipment. The flapper works fine when installed, and being underwater, cannot be smelled.
