I enjoy photography as a hobby, primarily nature photography. I'm an amateur and my camera is a bridge camera (Canon Powershot SX60), not a DLSR. A DLSR may be in my future, but I like my Canon for its' versatility and ease. I hike through woods and nature preserves with my camera and monopod, I set up my tripod to catch sunsets, moon shots, and bird photos. Though I've been happy with my current tripod/monopod combo, this tripod/monopod had some features that really interested me. I was anxious to try them out. I have to say this tripod operates delightfully smoothly! The transitions from one position to another are so easy, and there's no difficulty with the equipment wanting to stick. I wasn't sure I'd like the lengthening of this one as well, twisting parts to extend as opposed to flipping a latch, but it works with ease. Panning is beautifully smooth, and removing your camera from the bracket is very easy. Changing from tripod to monopod is a very simple operation, more simple than my other tripod, but this monopod tops out at 42 inches while my other reaches 49. That's a significant difference to me as I'm sometimes using my monopod to steady the camera as I have it aimed near the top of a tree photographing a bird. I'd have to stoop over uncomfortably with the 42 inch height.I've used the Fotopro Tripod indoors taking macro photos of flowers. Macro photos require steadiness, this tripod delivered beautifully. I've also used it outdoors on uneven terrain. Since you can adjust the legs independently I was able to maintain a level tripod, the supplied level bubble helps you adjust as needed. I've also used it birding. It folds small and isn't tremendously heavy to tote around. Even at full extension I found it to be sturdy and secure allowing me to zoom in on my subjects with ease. My camera weighs about 1.5 lbs., a DLSR with added lens would be more of course. While I believe this tripod would still be able to support a DLSR, you do have the added option of adding weight to the center with the hook for added security. While I still prefer the monopod from my other tripod/monopod combo (simply because of the additional height), this will be my go-to tripod for most other operations. I can't wait to use it for fireworks! The wonderful smooth panning is going to be awesome.I highly recommend the Fotopro 57" Tripod with Detachable Monopod. It's designed well, performs beautifully, is very sturdy and is composed of quality materials. It's a pleasure to use, and I'm very happy with this order.****About me: Integrity is very important to me. Reviews I've posted will be from items I've had direct contact with.
