I've used one of the bolts so far without any issues. It went in straight, I wasn't worried about hammering my hand, and I was able to preload with the top cap no problems.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and the simplicity of this tool. I needed to reseat a star nut for a EDC tool and this tool worked (mostly). Keep in mind that this tool will seat the nut to a maximum depth since it has a lip to prevent you from setting it too deep. If you are using a standard top cap and headset this is a fabulous tool for the job. It’s not long enough to remove a star nut but that’s not its purpose.

Works just as it should and is solidly built. Should last a lifetime.

Although I hope never to need to replace a star nut again[A], I opted to spend quite a bit extra for a non-one-time-use tool such as this one. A 1-1/8" star nut included with this item was driven in (effortlessly centered and to the correct depth) with 2-3 strokes of a 5 lb sledgehammer, with the tool showing no wear or damage. The tool came with no instructions, but it isn't hard to figure out.I cannot yet comment on the reliability of the star nut I installed; I'll update if anything untoward happens...[A] I was installing a cheap handlebar extension/riser on a brand new bike when the cheap bolt broke off and could not be removed from the star nut.
