Product used for ski touring. Good harness and carry but inner usable spaces not as functional as my older Mammut 30l pack. The avalanche tool pocket is cramped and has difficulty fitting my black diamond shovel. There is no goggle pouch which is an item I personally find useful. Slightly heavier than expected.Pros..good hugging fit, great ski carrying with both A and diag working well, overall volume good.So all in all a really good pack with a few minor niggles

After reviewing many different packs out there for backcountry skiing I found this pack, and I thought I would give it a whirl for the price point. I am 6' 210lb's and I ordered the medium and it fits my torso perfectly. Weighted down with all my gear it doesn't seem to cut into my broad shoulders too much at all or chest (45 inches) considering the less wide straps than competitors. The pack's dry weight is under 4lbs. The hardboard back support is a must and will prove beneficial in preventing injuries if caught in a slide. Another bonus is the pack does not bulk out on the sides, giving you a complete range of motion with arms.I have found the gear compartment to be exceptional as it is long enough to carry any brand probe and shovel with plenty more room, I have my skins, first aid kit, 50' of paracord a saw, and a snow kit in there without making it too cluttered, so access to emergency tools is still acceptable. The extra protection on the pack for carrying skis diagonal is pretty cool, the only downfall is the external helmet hammock could not be used if carrying skis (but you probably are wearing a helmet if your climbing). The main compartment is roomy enough for my tent, camp stove, air mat, water and food, sleeping back, extra layers, and a coat without being too bulky, and there is still some room to spare. One drawback is the main compartment is top access only so if you're not organized you may have to pull lots of things out to get what you are looking for. I don't mind this because in my backcountry experience it is too easy to get snow in your pack with the zip downsides in deep pow conditions. If you are just using it for a day trip the pack compresses down to about 35l which is nice. All in all, I feel this pack is well worth the money and would recommend it to others for backcountry touring. A few things that could be improved is the camelback layout, and the pack could have a few more attachment points for gear like ice axes, etc (although a cleaner pack means less chance of getting snagged in the thick trees on ascent and descents).
