Herm Sprenger | One of the leading manufacturers of metal products for equestrian, dog sport, and boat fittings for over 140 years. Known for high quality innovation, Sprenger is a family-run company in Iserlohn, Germany.
SIZE NOTE | Herm Sprenger collars are made in metric measurements, then converted to rounded-up inches for the U.S. market.
SIZING, FIT, TIPS | For Prong Training Collars: Measure dog's neck and add 2 inches. This will be your "initial" collar size from which you can adjust the collar by removing or adding links to achieve a comfortable, snug training fit.
TRAINING COLLARS | Training collars are intended for supervised training sessions when the handler is communicating a desired behavior. All users of training devices should be informed and understand how to use training devices. Do not leave a dog unsupervised or alone in a training device and do not leave training devices on a dog full time. Do not use retractable leash devices or elastic tension leads with a training collar. Do not use training collars on dogs younger than 6 months.
KEEP YOUR COLLAR BALANCED | When adding and removing prong links, remember to keep the same number of prong links affixed on each side of the center plate. If the collar fitting requires an odd number of prong links, then make sure one side of the center plate has only one more prong link than the other side. Your goal is to ensure the center plate stays at the front of the dog's neck above the trachea.
HOW TO CHOOSE PRONG LINKS | Prong Links can be purchased separately in multi-packs. When ordering, ensure you are ordering the correct millimeter sized prong link in the same metal composition as your collar. This will maintain a consistent tensile strength through out the collar, ensuring proper training communication and collar longevity.
CLEANING | Before use, wash metal collars in warm, mild soapy water to minimize fur discoloration.

Such a good idea to offer individual links to add on as your dog grows. This is a quality product and perfect for training those strong dogs once you know how to use it properly.

I use prong collars on all of my puppies starting at four months. We do off leash work in the house until they get all of their vaccines, then we move outside where there is nothing but distractions. Lizards, bugs, ducks, great blue herons, dogs, neighbors, landlords, leaves falling, you know, distractions. I have been trained properly on how to use a prong collar and I do not recommend them to anyone who has not had experience or proper training.I found the black collar... so we had to get the black links. It all has to match. I am a girl after all. Anywho, Herm Springer is one of the best brands in prong collars. They last forever and are made with quality. The dog determines how long the collar is needed so I need something that will last. This current puppy is a complete heathen so I have a feeling we are going to be using this collar for a while.Good buy, good company, quality product. It's worth the extra money.

I bought the Pawmark adaptation of the Herm Sprenger prong collar - and it is wonderful!! Since the Pawmark collar and these links are Herm Sprenger, they fit perfectly; slip on easily - and so far, no problems. I had a store-bought brand of a prong collar awhile ago -- and I have to admit, in terms of 'correction' the HS are much more gentle on the dog -- and actually may not be as effective! But my Great Danes have mellowed considerably - probably from the use of other brand of prong collar, and are not any where near the pullers that they used to be. So for the state that they are in now, the HS (small link) work fine. Since it is no longer needed to 'teach' any more (rather 'just in case' -- and with a dog over 100 pounds it is good piece of mind), I bought the extra links to make it very large - thus loose around the neck -- so they will have no feeling of the prongs unless they pull (in the training mode, the collar should be high on the neck and snug, as recommended). The black looks so much better on my dark dogs -- and not so intimidating either!
