I usually buy the Ninja tank for airgun projects but its price has climbed to $70 now so I decided to order one of these to test. First impressions are good. I fully disassembled and inspected the regulator assembly. It uses a Belleville spring stack (0.024” thick washers) and the setpoint was 825psi. There was some pressure creep evident. The pressure climbs to 750 very quickly and then takes a few minutes to climb to 825 and stabilize. Inspecting the valve seat, the plastic seal had a series of concentric rings that impede its ability to seal promptly. I sanded it smooth with a regimen of 400->600->1200->2000 grit wet/dry. Now it settles within just a few seconds. The tank has the requisite DOT cert. I didn’t care for the garish white print all over it so a little matte black spray paint took care of it.The machining quality of everything is quite good. The Foster fitting has a better surface finish than those from Ninja, and they include a captive rubber dust cap. Shame on Ninja for still having that abysmal loose cap that is destined to get lost.Overall this is a good alternative to the higher priced options out there, especially if you are willing to spend a few minutes to dress the valve seat to eliminate pressure creep.
