I used two of these damper actuators to replace two earlier version working but very noisy units. When Honeywell damper acutators timing motors get loud, their magnetic clutches fail next. These devices are used to modulate air flow in a single furnace-A/C system with multiple zones that can separately "call for heat or cold" depending on the season of the year.Honeywell specifies (and wants) these units to run 24/7/365 and the magnetic clutches and timing motors will typically "get tired" after about 2-3 years of 100% duty cycle running. I have configured my units to only run when the main furnace blower motor is running. This lengthened the time it took for the timing motors to get very noisy to SIXTEEN YEARS. (A few extra electrical parts are needed to accomplish this in the average furnace.)So, I decided to replace my "growing noisy" 2008 vintage units with Honeywell's latest spin of the same type. The price from the Amazon Partner was decent. Shipping was free via Prime. They took nearly a week to get. (I was ok with that.)What I didn't like, however, was the packaging and cushioning of the two units in their final delivery to me.They were not individually boxed. No documentation was included with them. (Fortunately I had that from the units I bought in 2008. Not much has changed.) The worse part was they were simply placed in a box, one flat on its backside, and the other vertically (landscape style) next to it. Crumbled brown packing paper was used to take up the remainder of the space in the box. This is insufficient cushioning to survive the rigors of UPS shipping and handling. The one positioned vertically had a chunk taken out of one of its insulating black plastic walls that separate the wires for the screw-down contacts for the CCW/Common/CW electrical connections. (See photograph. Nearly half an inch was snapped off. The retrieved triangular piece was still loose in the shipping box.)The one laying flat had nothing protecting its end with the stamped metal fastening lug. This was bent when the goods arrived at my house. It was easy enough to straighten the bent metal, but shouldn't have been necessary. (You can see to what I am referring in the sales listing photos.)I'm certain Honeywell ships these damper actuators in an bulk, "egg crate" style shipping container to prevent them from hitting against each other when coming to the end-retailer. The retailer, however, should be wrapping the individual units they sell in bubble wrap that will cushion their bouncing around during shipment. This could cost pennies and not result in items that have broken pieces or metal work that need customer rework prior to installation. Even placing each actuator in its own plastic baggie would provide a measure of protection that loose packing does NOT.Not bad enough to return if they functioned properly, but this shipment could have been done a LOT better.I made them work for me, and they are quiet. I hope they last me another 16 years. I'm sure Honeywell sells a lot of these that are running 24/7 (100% duty cycle) rather than the 10-15% duty cycle way I configure them. $260 every 16 years is way better than every TWO years.Honeywell obviously ships in BULK packaging because of the planned obsolescence nature of how they are specified to be installed and wired up.I'd rate these FIVE STARS if they were packed so they arrived in perfect physical condition like I paid for and expected. For what I had to do for "two out of two" devices, deleting only one star down to four is my being very generous. I'm sure they will continue to function, but I feel some sort of adjustment is warranted.

I have had two of these units fail in approx five years. This is an easy install: power down unit, note position of damper rod on failed unit, loosen two 1/8th inch set screws and loosen three wires. To replace, position new unit on damper rod similar to how damper rod was positioned on failed unit (big assumption here is your original installer got this correct, which is not a sure thing), tighten down set screws and replace wires in original configuration. Took me about 15 minutes. Now its good to go.

This is a simple swap replacement for an actuator that controlled a damper in my zone system. The existing controller developed a chirping sound somewhat like a bearing gone bad. The new one is now installed and all is well. It took less than 5 minutes to replace.
