Have used these brackets alot and love them. Was purchasing from a lumber supplier which was a few $ cheaper then Amazon but purchased from Amazon and the fact that it comes with the hardware more then makes up the difference when purchasing the screws and insets. Also the quality of the cuts at the end are better. The local place must have been getting larger pieces and cutting then down, these ones have a clean factory end.

This is a great product that performs precisely as advertised. However, every construction/installation detail is important, particularly for long shelves. My installation involved a 21 foot mantel (21’ x 9.5” x 2.25”) weighing approximately 175 lbs. I used four 2 foot equally spaced sections of HOVR bracket that were shimmed against the wall as directed. End-To-End planar and level orientation was confirmed with a string. Constructing a “shelf” this long using three laminations of ¾” plywood, simple table saw, and no dado blade was a bit of a challenge and resulted in a wall mating edge that was slightly curved in one section. The HOVR mounting hardware is intolerant of this error resulting in my inability to engage one of the 2 foot sections. However, the remaining three sections were engaged and produced a very secure mantel. This is an excellent product and I would use it again, but also pull a string on the shelf mating edge to ensure that it is absolutely flat.

A little bit of work to make the shelves so that they look good and hide the brackets, however, the end result is well worth it. These supports are very strong.

Update on this product. I'm not loving it. I laminated 3 pieces of 3/4" hardwood plywood together to make a shelf. It's 7ft long and 16" deep and approximately 70lbs, which is in Hovr's parameters. The wall it is attached to is pretty flat, no shims were needed. I followed the directions to a "tee" and I'm not confident this thing will hold up. So much so that I ordered two metal brackets to bolster the shelf, which negates the purpose of using this system in the first place. One of the issues is that, IMHO, the part where the mating pieces "hook" together is not big enough to catch properly. The setscrews tightened up things a lot. If you use them try to get a attachment for your ratchet that is the same size as the Allen key.And the 47" length is ridiculous since studs are commonly 16"OC. I asked the company about it and they said that extra inch would cost an extra $40 in shipping fees. I find that hard to believe. I just got two pieces of 8' long oak molding, heavier than their product, sent to me for $25.
