I got this mainly for paint stripping off of furniture. I have been working on some pieces of furniture with both sanding and chemical strippers and it's taking forever and not really going well. Need several steps with the chemicals. They are not cheap and I don't really like chemicals. I also didn't want to spend a fortune on a heat gun. But this one is compact and inexpensive. I tried it out and it seems to work! It heated quickly and it softened my paint layers enough to scrape them off pretty easily. I probably still need to do a light sanding before the new paint, but I think this will be so much quicker and less painful than other methods I have tried. There are several different adapters and I'm not sure which to use for best results. I tried one randomly and it seemed fine, but perhaps I'll try another. There were no instructions with it on how to use it - the only booklet was more of a safety precautions book, so a user guide would have been really nice. But, otherwise, I'm happy with it. I only used it for about 30min, so we'll see how it goes with longer use also. My only complaint is that it has a pretty strong fan (I'm sure it needs it with the high heat), so it blows whatever you are scraping around all over the place. Really need to use either outside or maybe a garage (I was doing this in the garage, but would probably try to move outside weather permitting if using for a longer session.

Works perfectly. Had to strip some old vinyl off of some parts. Heated up quickly and made the job very easy. Great value for the money.

The Hychika heat gun seems like a good tool with several convenient features, but with horrible instructions. It is manufactured by Foshan Oili Technology Co in China.Pros: The heat gun is very adjustable, with two fan speed settings controlled by a sliding switch on the back of the handle (Off - 1 - 2) and a continuously variable thermostat thumb wheel at the top off the handle. This gives excellent control over the full temperature rage the tool is reported to provide (140 - 732 F on 1, and 140 - 1112 F on 2). Tool is rated for 120V / 12.5A, so recommend using it on a 15A circuit. The case is designed with air intake on the sides and a flat back so the unit can be sold on its back for hands-free operation - very convenient. It is shipped with 6 nozzles to focus the heat flow in different ways .Cons: The included manual is TERRIBLE and written in micro-print. The OCR code for an on-line manual sends to to a web site in China asking for information I can not supply (I think it is meant for use inside China). There are no instructions at all on what the best applications for the 6 included nozzles are, and the only description of them is on the Amazon website. What do I use a “BBQ Light” nozzle for??? The heat gun is packed loose in a thin cardboard box with no padding and the nozzles in a bubble-wrap bag, It does not come with a case. There are no instructions for what settings to use for what type of materials.Bottom line: I will get good utility from this variable temperature heat gun for things like heat-shrink tubing, working plastics, and quickly drying coatings, and I love the fact that it can be used either as a handheld unit or standing upright on a workbench. I likely could get better use from it if it came with decent instructions.
