I got tired of washing spoons. I’m a single bachelor and I only use spoons and eat processed foods. I get multiple uses and they are made from corn so I can reduce my microplastic intake at least.

I like them but I just use them for coffee. I even put them in the dishwasher.

These heavy duty 100% compostable spoons are made from corn. That is amazing! I have tried compostable spoons before. Those other spoons were long and elegant and a bit outside the range of my budget.I use disposable plastic silverware daily. I would like to switch over to the compostable version. I wished for compostable silverware that was smaller in size than the spoons that I had tried before. I thought that if less material was used to make the silverware it should be more budget friendly. These compostable spoons are smaller! They exist! What I need now is a simple labeling system that can tell me at a glance what size the flatware is best suited for. I will call these compostable spoons Everyday Use Adult Size because they have a shorter handle, a larger rounder bowl, and are more yellow than the previous compostable spoons that I tried.I would call the first set of compostable spoons that I tried Business Luncheon Size because they have a longer handle, smaller more triangular bowls and are whiter in color.I would like to see compostable spoons that have even shorter handles and smaller bowls that are suitable for use by children. I would also like to see some fancier versions of compostable spoons. These spoons are very sturdy. The first time I ordered compostable spoons I thought that they might dissolve when they touched a liquid like soup or, that they might get soft and unusable very quickly, but I was wrong. As a test I left one of these new smaller spoons sitting in a bowl of water overnight. There was no change in the texture or the structure of the spoon. These spoons can be washed and reused if the occasion calls for it.I am a bit disappointed that the value per spoon is exactly the same as it was for the first compostable spoons that I tried. Even though these have shorter handles and are more yellow than the first ones. I cannot say that I understand that. These 100% compostable disposable spoons are made from corn and are very sturdy. I do feel better tossing these in the trash than the usual cheap plastic ones that I use.Five stars.

For functionality I would give these spoons a 10/10. They are as heavy duty as the normal spoons I buy for every day use. I have tried these with various food from hot soup, beef stew, mac & cheese, both hot and cold pasta and they have held up to all of them without breaking, warping or otherwise showing any issues. The spoons are not white like my normal plastic ones, close - but they are a little bit of a beige color. The finish on them is a little odd when you first feel them - they have a very smooth, but matte finish rather than a glossy finish. I didn't see this causing any issues though. The value of them depends on what your priorities are. Being compostable if you have a compost and are going to put all your used utensils there then you can keep a lot out of the landfill. On the other hand this 200 pack cost more than the 500 pack I normally get of the plastic spoons (and those I typically wash in the dishwasher once or twice before tossing them). These are made out of corn starch that is made into a polymer that is the same kind you use in a 3d printer (PLA) Overall I give them a gread rating on being a quality spoon, and the value depends on what's important to you.
