Update:March 25- technical team reached out and are attempting to rectify the problem. Will update further.Camera works well. No issues with recording and video quality. Very frustrating connection issues with the camera and a mobile device to transfer the videos. It connects 1 out of 10 times and disconnects during the video transfer process almost all of the times. I tried several different mobile phones and tablets, both iOS and Android. Paid for cloud storage from Insta360 with the hopes of bypassing the mobile transfer, but the camera refuses to connect or remain connected for me to complete the setup process and connection to the cloud. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Google is phasing out their photosphere feature on their Pixel phones and I wanted something that could do 360 photos faster for capturing environments on vacations or anything else I want to document. The HDR mode is really good for dimly lit indoor environments which was the first thing I used this on. I was moving out so I wanted to capture the old rooms and the new place. The camera takes awhile to setup and get going. And then when I did take a 360 photo it was all in black and white. Apparently I had to do something or wait for it show up in color, but they don't make that clear, I thought I was using some wrong mode. I use the HDR mode which doesn't seem to have that extra step (it does take a few seconds for the HDR to process though). The photos save to your SD card, but I like the feature where you can upload this to your Google Photos account where I can view them like I could with the old photosphere feature (looking around with VR mode). And of course it's just where I like to keep my photo albums. The invisible selfie stick is crazy too! It looks like the camera is floating.Overall, I haven't used the other features yet since I was mostly interested in 360 photos, but it gets the job done and the photos look great.

Editar los videos es increíble y divertido.El zoom es el único detalle en contra, pero como cámara de acción las cosas pasan muy cerca y rápido!

I've had many GoPros, I've has Rylos.Insta360 does everything about 360 degree shoot-first-cut-later photography the best. The camera is great. The accessories are great. But the software is why I love this thing... The 360 studio desktop app is a breath of fresh air.I put the SD card into a USB adapter, the studio imports all the videos, you start editing. It's really easy to learn. You can have a fancy video cut together in 5 minutes.I remember GoPro trying to charge me a subscription fee to use the premium version of their app, because the default free version is super basic.I got all the accessories for this thing, and spare batteries. I think this one is worth the investment.

I will update this review as I learn more, but figured I should put down my first impressions.1. Received everything OK and all seemed to be in working order, except the camera was set for Chinese language. Setting is back to English was not easy because I couldn't read any of the menus. In the end I managed to find the settings menu, and then used live Google translate on my phone to translate the menu text to English so I could read them and find the language menu. Now that it's set to English it's fine, but it took a bit to figure out.2. The Insta360 app permissions give me pause so I have not installed the app onto my phone just yet. I'm planning to either dig out an old phone to use with it, or I might try a tablet I have that I feel safer using (assuming the app will work on a tablet)3. The touch screen is nice and responsive, and the camera has a ton of cool features, but I haven't really been able to explore them yet without installing the app.

Es una cámara portátil, libera y muy fácil de manejar, la recomiendo para deportes de acción y sobre todo para motocicletas

March 27 2024 update:I have recorded terabytes with this by now and it never fails to overheat. The quality is already low enough - even having the ac-defroster running at maximum speed isn't enough cold air, even in the cool Springtime of the north! I'm fed up with this constant freezing and glitching and overheating. It's not fun. The X3 is way too expensive to have these issues, and there's no way to solve the problem without just not using it. It's really as bad as a GoPro....Old review:Everything from hardware quality to camera quality will feel dated, but there really are no cameras that beat Insta’s X3 (yet). It can burn through battery quickly, and you need to beware that some accessories (lens protection) and cases could prevent you from charging while recording. I love the large touch screen, and though it feels like using a phone from 2009 (heat may cause lag), it is a very convenient form-factor and simple to use once you learn the buttons. It’s light enough and looks very low-key and incognito which is a huge plus (you can disable the bright blue led yay!). Stitching without lens covers is best but I already spent too much money on the accessories so I went with the lens covers that adhere around the lenses. Stitching isn’t as good but it could be worse so I’m satisfied. I put a 1tb micro sd card in and it makes me very happy to be so worry-free about recording and battery life (I plug in during most use). The app is awesome, though you may have trouble being connected to it via wifi, as you will want to only use a cell phone with good cellular connectivity/speed for use outside the app. Editing is actually next level, so is viewing video on the camera and on phone, and transfer speeds were surprisingly good thanks to wifi and a newer version of bluetooth. Now that I’ve burned as much money on accessories as I have the camera itself, I face another dilemma: do I buy one or two more cameras (with lens protection at $20/each [I wiuld probably wait at least for the x4]) or do I pretend like investing more into accessories is totally not a ripoff? I can’t believe how overpriced everything is! The camera is the cheapest thing here!!! Insta deserves to give me lens protection by default, and I am astonished that the camera’s lenses are not replaceable by default! Be careful with this camera, it is not to touch anything, even with the overpriced plastic lens guards that they want you to think are glass. Insta has a long way to go, but so far they are ahead of GoPro (minus pricing) in my book. As for DJI, I still believe DJI is in the lead. The X3 and 1” camera (I probably won’t buy) are the only reasons to go Insta.Note: the camera quality (especially in most cases) is NOT good enough to use as a reliable dashcam, as legibility of text is NOT the X3’s ability/strong-suit. Maybe the X4 will be able to read text from afar and be usable as an Apple HomeKit Secure Video camera, and have lens protectors installed from factory, and have the main lenses user-replaceable. We will find out….
