We used to have the 6 quart, but the 8 quart size feels like a much better size for making soup stocks, and preparing larger meals for more people. It's a bit of a step-up, but the volume increase is worth it. We've always been happy with our Instant Pot and would recommend it to anyone who does lots of soups, stews, curries, and even fried rice.

I totally, totally love mine and plan to buy a few as gifts. I have a few pressure cookers and would give them all up but for my pressure canner to for this instant pot. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. I have used most of the setting and have found it easy to use, the sky is the limit. So far I have made a roast with potatoes and carrots, ham and bean soup, bacon and bean soup, mash potatoes, old fashion rice, rotisserie chicken, Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo just to name a few turns out amazing cooked at the same time in one pot. I even cooked meat and used the fast release to add the vegetables later. Everything turned out amazing. Great to be able to cook it all at once which means less clean up. I love how it holds things warm, little or no steam coming out and almost no noise but for when it starts up. You get all the things you love with a pressure cook with none of the things you don’t like plus so much more.I told my son they needed one, he said I don’t like food cooked in a slow cooker, I told him this is nothing like that. They were coming over this weekend so I told them to let me make a rotisserie chicke, give it a try and see what you think. I waited until they got here and showed them from start to finish how easy it was, they totally fell in love with it. I will be buying them one this week. They will get so much enjoyment out of it with good tasting healthy food.Let’s face it everyone is looking for healthier ways of cooking that cuts your time in half, for my family this is the way to go. I love that everything is stainless steel, easy to use, very little mess and is so quite it is a shame not to have one. I got the 8qt for me and will be getting the 6 qt for my son and another one for a friend. I am also checking into getting another pan for the inside so I can go from making one things to another without washing it why it is hot. There are also some Accessories I want.It is made of good quality and will last for years. I may even buy another one for myself. I can’t see me every going back to a pressure cooker and do not want to be without one.

Finally took the plunge and bought myself (I mean family, yeah, it was for them....) an Instant Pot. As a family of 5, after reading a lot of reviews, decided on the 8qt. I bought it from the Marketplace page and saved a lot of money vs the regular page. After doing the water test at home I made some hard boiled eggs and Pickled Beets. Wow, the beets took almost no time and the eggs came out perfect. I then ran in to a brick wall. My Instant Pot was dead. Stopped working and had an error code on the screen. After Googling the error I opened a ticket with Instant Pot. The process is simple and took a few minutes, adding a few pictures and a PDF of the Amazon receipt. After I had done the claim form I decided to start a chat with the company as that is another way to contact them online. They immediately found my ticket and after a few questions, and requesting a few more pictures, I was told that another unit would be sent to me at no charge. The only issue at that point is it was on back-order because that were not shipping me a whole new unit, just the shell with the electronics where the issue was. I asked for the URL for the part so I could monitor when it was back in to stock and found it was available now. SO I asked the CSR why it was not being shipped right away. Turns out she was looking at the inventory in the USA warehouse, while I am in Canada. She then updated the ticket and advised I would be shipped the replacement on the next business day. 2 days later it was on the way. By the end of the week we were back in business. So a few things to do before you finish unpacking, to save yourself some time. Take a few pictures, including the model number and the serial number, found on the bottom and the back of the unit. Also get a picture of the inside of the main unit where you can see the element. We have since used it with no issues on almost a dozen times, from chicken wings, thighs, breast, yogurt an amazing pot roast and even vanilla extract. Yes vanilla extract. It was very easy and we are making some small decorative bottles to give as Christmas gifts. All it took was decent quality vodka, good quality grade B vanilla beans (also bought here on Amazon) and of course the Instant Pot. Don't be afraid, save yourself some space and replace your Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Yogurt Maker, Steamer, Warmer, Sauté Pan (some models even do air frying). And look for a group on Facebook where you can get amazing tips and recepies
