24 port shielded patch panel:So far this works as advertised. I got it for future expansion of a home network rack I've been slowly working on so right now it's added to the rack as overkill and looks a bit silly, but I have tested it out and it seems to work.I personally like this style patch panel over the traditional keystone style. It allows me to rapidly rearrange my patch panel as I'm building out the whole property and if something gets damaged I can just skip the end and quickly make a new one. I suppose that could be true of a keystone end as well, but removing and moving a keystone is harder than just popping a cable out and moving it over. One thing to note, if you care about this, the patch panel is a bit thicker than my other one in my rack so using the mounting hardware traditionally it stuck out a air bit. However, I was able to just mount the hardware different and it's mostly flush with the other equipment. Not a big deal honestly. It does come with its own hardware and everything you need to go from out of box to into rack in about 5 minutes, but I wound up using my racks dedicated hardware so the colors matched. The panel does also come with a pre installed grounding strap you can tie off to your rack which is nice. I did have my spares that came with my rack so while not a necessity it was a nice touch. So far so good, and this is doing exactly what I want from it. Next step is to get my next switch installed in the rack so it's less ridiculous that I have 48 patch panel slots and only one 24 port switch. Will update if something goes wrong, but preliminary testing shows this is doing exactly what it was designed to do. Pretty simple piece of equipment so I don't expect much to go wrong.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm hard on network patch panels. And I haven't had much luck with the cheaper options out there, with them either breaking under (unintentional) cable strain, or even arriving pre-broken due to shoddy plastic parts. So, I had some high hopes when I saw the metal construction on this panel. It's not absolutely perfect, but for my purpose it's a lot better than anything else I've used recently. The construction is a mix of metal and plastic, but metal where it really matters. It's heavier than a pure plastic wonder panel, but is that really a problem for a rack panel? I guess if you're trying to create something portable, but otherwise not. Mine was equipped with cat 6a connectors, all of metal construction externally. They appear to be a type of keystone and are maybe removable, but I didn't try too hard to do that as I didn't need to. Once you get beyond 10GbE speeds you're moving to fiber or DAC cables anyway, which means you need a different solution from something like this. So, it looks nice, it seems well made, and I didn't find any operational problems like increased packet retries when using it with the short runs typical in a rack. It's a bit more cost than a cheap panel, but trust me you should be looking in this range anyway. So what would I change? Maybe I'd like a slightly nicer cable tie bar - this one is adequate but not anything fancy. Oh, and if you're not going to install it with the captive nut system it comes with, you'll need to provide your own rack screws - the ones it comes with are too big to fit most pre-drilled rack bars.

Over all this is a pretty decent patch panel. The quality and features are up there for the price even if I do not like the aesthetics of the font panel all that much.PROS:- RJ45 pass-through style couplers instead of punch-down. Sure the initial setup is more of a pain but if you ever have/want to relocate the cables to another panel or just a new location on the existing panel, it is a breeze.- CAT6A shielded couplers.- Tested some couplers randomly and they all passed 10Gbps.- The price seems quite reasonable for what you are getting.CONS:- This style of patch panel comes in two pieces, the main front panel and the rear tie-down bracket. I am not a fan of this style at all. It is functional for sure, but definitely more flimsy.- The front panel is pretty thick and I am not sure why. This is the first patch panel I have ever seen like this. Usually it is just a flat piece of metal the same thickness as the rack ears. One of the cons is purely aesthetic for me, the two-piece design is less aesthetic and more functional but really shouldn't hinder you from purchasing, this is a pretty value.

I recently integrated the Cat6A version of this patch panel into my home server rack setup. One of the standout features is that it comes pre-installed with Cat6A shielded coupler keystones, eliminating the need for punch-down tools and making installation straightforward. The inclusion of a detachable back bar for strain relief is a thoughtful addition. However, I noticed that the provided tie-downs are single-use zip ties. I would have preferred reusable cable ties or Velcro straps for easier reconfiguration, especially since I’m still in the process of organizing my rack.A significant advantage of this patch panel is its square keystone openings. Unlike panels with RJ45-shaped cutouts, these allow for greater flexibility. I can easily swap out the existing keystones for other types, such as HDMI or USB, which is excellent for future-proofing my setup. One minor hiccup I encountered was during the installation of the back bar. My son assisted me, and we inadvertently installed it upside down. It’s an easy fix, but a clearer indication of orientation in the instructions would have been helpful.Overall, this patch panel offers robust build quality and versatility at a reasonable price point. Despite the minor cable management issue, I would definitely consider purchasing it again for future projects.
