The album is notable for only including one song, which spans the entire album. Thick As A Brick was deliberately crafted in the style of a concept album (and as a "bombastic" and "over the top" parody). The original packaging, designed like a newspaper, claims the album to be a musical adaptation of an epic poem by a (fictional) eight-year-old genius, though the lyrics were actually written by the band's frontman, Ian Anderson. The album was a commercial success and topped the US charts.

Die Originalplatte hatte ich in den siebziger Jahren , leider ging sie verloren.Deshalb habe ich mir dieses Stück zum Geburtstag schenken lassen.Die klingt einfach klasse, allein das Gewicht ist beeindruckend !Die Klangqualität ist ebenfalls sehr gut, ich werde sie sicher öfter hören.

Muy buen disco si te gusta la banda.En sí solo son 2 canciones pero de más de 20 minutos cada una.No lo había encontrado que bueno que ya se pueden importar.

A classic Prog Rock album - probably enough has been said of it already (especially on sites such as Prog Archives where it often sits up there as the number 1 album). For it to be given this hi definition treatment in 5.1 by Steven Wilson, the master of the art of surround mixing/production, makes it a very exciting release. What Mr Wilson's mix does is allow the space to let all the textures breathe making for an enhanced musical re-experience of the record. The packaging (pretty much a book) is very comprehensive and attractive too. This is a very special edition.

No se puede negar que lo que está haciendo Steven Wilson por el progresivo es impagable.Al margen de su excelente labor como músico, el tratamiento y el respeto con el que ha abordado la remezcla de grandes clásicos de los 70 es digna de toda admiración.En el caso de Jethro Tull, donde parece haber encontrado una inusitada inspiración, hay que reconocer que la labor no solabmente es elogiosa sino que los resultados son magníficos.Pero es que, además, del tratamiento musical, la presentación y el concepto con el que están apareciendo estas entregas de los clásicos discos de Jethro los hacen irrechazables.Me gustan mucho estos digibooks. No es el formato que más me gusta, es verdad, pero me parece que están hecho con tal cuidado que, por el precio que cuestan, resultan imbatibles. Un profuso libreto con reproducción de todo el "viejo periódico" de forma que resulte legible y un buen número de fotografía y artículos que ilustran la gestación y el momento de este disco imprescindible.Un cd, con la nueva mezcla y un DVD que ofrece la nueva mezcla en 5.1 (impresionante) y el stereo de la mezcla original, lo que hace innecesaria la conservación de ninguna edición anterior. Con esta basta y sobra. Además, escuchando la nueva mezcla de Wilson... ¿quien se acuerda de la mezcla original?.Máximo respeto al original es la consigna. Como un habil restaurador que intenta dejar un cuadro con la máxima brillantez de sus colores originales, así es como ha actuado Wilson para dar a este Thick as a Brick no su brillo original sino, más aún, el que debió tener en unos tiempos en los cuales los medios técnicos no eran los óptimos.En esta versión y, particularmente, en el 5.1, Thick as a Brick suena más imponente que nunca.Toda una obra de justicia la de Wilson, devolviendo a Jethro la importancia y el reconocimiento que nunca debió perder.Cuanto daño hizo el punk y la new wave a la buena música y cuanto bien está haciendo Steven Wilson que, más allá de su labor como música, se me antoja la de un juez... impartiendo justicia.

This album is a 5 star classic but I'm not really reviewing the the album itself. I felt the need to inform those people wondering about the original print defect on the surround versions of the DVD. There are some glitches within the first 3 minutes of side 1 on the original 40th Anniversary Edition DVD disc. There was a second print of the disc that addresed these glitches. There is no way of knowing which version is which from the outside packaging. The new fixed DVD has a line under time duration. The original DVD does not. I received my copy from Amazon earlier this week (9-5-14) and was initially dissappointed after opening the package to see that I received an original print DVD. However, after playing playing both the Dolby & DTS 5.1 surround formats on my system, I could not hear any popping noises, fadeouts, or any other glitches whatsoever. So I guess I should consider myself lucky as the fixed DVD version is no longer in print from what I have read. Considering Amazon's return policy and how great this album is, it's worth taking a chance on purchasing it. I have also read on forums like AVS that the surround mix on this DVD being described as "unlistenable" and "horrible". I have a quality surround system and while this may not be the best sounding surround DVD I have ever heard I think it sounds pretty good and is deserving of your purchase if you are a Tull fan. I don't own the Aqualung remix so I can't compare the two. Thick As A Brick is my favorite Tull album and it was worth the purchase!
