Attached these to a couple pieces of 8AWG stranded copper wire for attaching to my RV's battery connection (making a quick disconnect so I can remove the battery in the winter w/o tools). These splices worked great and retain well. I wish they came with some colored heat shrink, but I'll steal some from the ring terminals I bought for this project to keep everything looking professional. Good deal!

I use uninsulated barrel-type butt connectors whenever I splice wires. Since I'm old-school, I usually don't use a crimping tool; instead, I solder the connectors and cover them with two layers of heat-shrink tubing for insulation.While I primarily use these connectors for automotive applications, this 50-piece set is versatile enough for various other uses.I've already used several connectors, and they accept solder very well. To improve solder flow, I apply a small amount of flux to the wires before inserting them into the connector. When heat is applied to the outside of the connector, it draws the solder into the barrel, resulting in a perfect connection every time. If crimping is your preferred method, these connectors work well for that, too.Overall, my experience with these connectors has been excellent. I plan to order more when I run low. If you're in the market for butt connectors, you should consider this brand.
