I was using it on a 105mm F1.4 Nikkor ... because it's the ONLY extender that will work with it ... well along with their 2X. The 2X actually works well ... AF and Sharps ... but the 1.4X is Great for the massive Spherical Aberrations that it produces ... see the wonderful GLOW ... until one stops down a couple of stops ... see the Normal added Image. So I kept it just for that cool Glow that one gets using it wide open with that lens. I'm sure it will work normally on longer telephotos.

Some important things to note based on the instructions provided is that this teleconverter will only work with Nikon AF-S lenses (some AF) and Tokina lenses (but not the AF-200 AT-X). Any other lens manufacturers are not supported by the teleconverter so that's important to be aware of.What this will do (when attached between your camera and the lens) is make your lens reach further by multiplying the focal length by 1.4 times. In my case, it was to extend my AF 70-300mm to a usable range of 98mm-420mm. To me this was perfect for my intended purpose of catching birds of prey in-flight and aviation at a distance. It's handy if you want to try and get shots from a little further away without necessarily going out and getting another lens. There are some drawbacks, one of which is that you will lose 1 f-stop when this attachment is in use. f/2.8 becomes f/4, f/4 becomes f/5.6 and so on. In practice, this will reduce the performance of your auto-focus or possibly mean you have to shoot in manual when the light drops below a certain level. I found that as I am mainly manually focusing for my long shots anyway, this isn't too much of a negative based on my usage. This device is designed for telephoto lenses so generally you wouldn't want to use this on anything less than 50mm, as it may not fit and you won't really be getting much more benefit so I would not recommend using it on wide-angle lenses. The build quality is very good, it easily feels as good as any other F mount attachment. It locks in place nicely when attached to my Nikon DSLR and has a release for when a lens has been attached to the teleconverter. The rear cap and front cap are of good quality and it comes in a nice little bag as well which is a good way to keep it safe when travelling. All in all, if you are using a telephoto lens regularly but need that extra bit of reach, this is a really good purchase. Having it with you while travelling gives you that additional flexibility without you having to pack a longer lens or buy another one. If you do a lot of long-range photography on your Nikon, I would absolutely recommend it.

HE HECHO UNAS PRUEBA Y ES CIERTO QUE LOS LATERALES NO APARECEN TAN DEFINIDOS COMO CON EL 28-300mm AUNQUE YA SE QUE NO ES COMPARABLE. EL CENTRO APARECE DEFINIDO Y ENFOCADO PERFECTAMENTE Y EL RESTO BIEN. ASI ES QUE ESTOY CONTENTO Y CREO QUE PARA LAS FOTOS DE FAUNA QUE ME GUSTAN Y DE DEPORTE, ESTÁ MUY BIEN. OS LO RECOMIENDO.

I always love to take pictures of the full-moon. My telephoto lens gave me an effective focal length of 600mm. However, the image was still relatively small. What's more, it wasn't clear as the contrast was low. When I inserted the convertor in between the lens and the body, I got an 840mm effective focal length, so the image was larger. What really pleased me was the contrast - greatly improved. On the top of the moon, I could see three tall craters! Amazing! Couldn't be happier! You can see the craters on top of the moon. I did not enhance the picture, this is the native picture, so really show off the 1.4x convertor.
