I made it work for my application on a Gokart but if this was intended for a boat I would return it.(1)Carriage Bolts in the package said they were 100mm long, they are too long and not 100mm but 150mm I know this because I ordered 70mm to replace them and ended up being to short, so if they were truely 100mm they would have been perfect.(2)For Circular 1 inch bar, they slip and slide and do not stay fixed. I tried using grip tape to help which didn’t work. I was originally going to tape center of brackets and pole and put a bolt through the middle but the bolt size is incorrect as mentioned above.

I like the unit, it fits on the back of my little pontoon boat it looks neat. My only problem is the bolt pattern is too close and it won't fit over the square tubing on my Boat rail so I only use two Bolts instead of 4 but it's working OK.
