but the lock-release sleeve requires quite some force to operate, not really smooth at all.

It's diameter is too large to get into the space that is provided. It doesn't work for me.

This Phillips screw starter works surprisingly well. It fits small and large screw heads. I was impressed with the range of sizes from tiny #1 to huge #4. The tool uses a clever ridged gripper to catch the inner corners of the Phillips cross slot. Because of this, the tool may wear out with constant use. But that exceeds my occasional need. Consider the longer (9-inch) version if you need a lot of depth. Otherwise, just tape a dowel to the knurled end of the tool handle to lengthen it. Highly recommended.Update: So I finally wore out my first tool after several hundred stainless steel pan head screws. Sad, but here I am ordering another one because it is just too useful to not have when inserting a non-magnetic screw into a tight area. My suggestion to reduce wear is to remove the tool after starting a screw and finish with a standard Phillips screw driver instead of tightening the screw down with the tool.

This item arrived bent, and I was going to return it but then thought, Heck at $7 just buy another.But the price went up to $25 Plus dollars Its is not worth that much so I have decided to just write this review.Very disappointing a Klein tool that bends in transit.
