EL MATERIAL NO ES CUERO PERO LE DA UN ACABADO SIMILAR; LAS HOJAS TIENE APARIENCIA DE LIBRO MUY VIEJO( LA CALIDAD DEL PAPEL ES MUY BUENA, ES RESISTENTE) CON REMATES DE COSTURA EN EL CENTRO. EN VERDAD NO SE VAN A ARREPENTIR .

Las hojas están hermosas, y son bastante resistentes, la pasta es de plástico no de cuero, sin embargo; yo pienso que es excelente pues los acabados se ven reales además de que, me gusta, los detalles vintage son preciosos.

Two concerns are reflected in the majority of reviews for this lovely little journal, so let me get to those first.Yes, the color of the actual item is not as dark as in the images in the listing. While this is somewhat misleading, I personally think the lighter color makes the journal look more 'antique,' moreover, it allows the detail of the artwork, which is very fine, to stand out more. It's a matter of personal taste, of course. If you are keen on something approaching black, this is not the journal you're looking for.Second, the material. Some reviewers point out that it is not leather, and they are correct. The cover is some kind of synthetic 'faux' leather and has a faint odor reminiscent of benzine, though this is likely to dissipate. Here, too, the listing misrepresents the actual item, arguably in a more serious manner than concerns its color.However, I am personally glad it's not leather. The reviews saying that it isn't actually clinched my decision to buy. Why should the suffering of an animal be tied up with my enjoyment? You certainly don't pay a 'genuine leather' price for this journal.What's left to be said? Color difference aside, the journal is every bit as attractive as the pictures show, though in fact some of the customer images do it more justice. The artwork is beautiful, the clasp (I wouldn't call it a lock, as it will not prevent anyone from opening the journal) functional. The paper inside has that lovely, hand-made quality and coarse but soft texture that, along with the antique look of the cover, gives the impression of something not produced with the soulless precision of a factory. The journal comes with a cloth satchel, in case you want to keep the design from being immediately visible, or simply to protect it.I compared a whole bunch of similar journals—the type of paper as well as the design being my must-haves—and I have no regrets that I chose this one.

Ok, so I bought this journal in spite of all the negative reviews because I know how people complain about everything.First of all, is it really leather? I'm not sure. It may be leather that is backed with a fabric. I have the huge 600 page version of this journal to and it's the same way. It smells like leather and looks like leather, so I think it might be. Who cares.People also complained that it's not as black as the picture. That is true, but it's a really cool shade of brown.Some complained that the description says 200 pages, but there's only198 pages or something. I"m not counting all these pages, but I can tell you it's thick enough. Most people I've known don't have enough interesting things to say to fill 200 5x7 pages anyway. Which brings me to the last complaint...Some complained they didn't realize it is so small. It says 5x7 inches in the description, so yeah, there's that.I love the imperfections in the handmade paper and the color is make it look ancient, and it really gives the book character.I think this book is beautifully made and there's a lot to be said for a product that's actually made with a person's two hands. That's rare these days and probably why people can't act right when they see something handmade.In conclusion, if you're the type of person who has to have all your eggs the same color and the same size and you'll only eat bleached flour and sugar, then buy something cranked out by a machine. If you want a small beautifully handmade journal, this will be perfect for you.I would personally buy this again.
