I own a lot of markers for calligraphy and illustration, but none dried fast enough or had a fine-enough tip for doing spirographs. That's how i discovered these "f" markers. I LOVE THEM. Their create a very fine line on one side with a durable plastic tip, and a much bolder line on the other for shading or larger areas. The set i got was super-juicy — but somehow the ink doesn't soak through paper (not even the thinner Tomoe River 68 gsm i favor). The colors are beautiful; very clear and vibrant. It's a big plus that they blend well and you can also add water to your drawings to create a more transparent, watercolor effect. In short, i'll end up using them for a lot more than just spirorgraphs.The only downer was Amazon's awful shipping. These were sent to me in a plastic bag with no protection and arrived absolutely crushed, with a broken box and markers scattered everywhere. I patched up the box with tape so it's still usable ... but am frustrated and disappointed to have received yet another item that Amazon damaged in transit. I'm thinking it's time to start buying my art materials elsewhere. But the pens themselves are great and i heartily recommend them for both coloring and line art.

Love these pens! Absolutely great colours! However, they do take quite a while to arrive, so don't get them if you need them soon...

I have used a few of these markers but mostly the black. That wasn't my intention when purchasing them but these markers worked so much better than my sharpies and my micron felt tips for outlining my adult coloring book pages. They write very smoothly and put out just the right amount of ink. Although you can see them on the back side of the paper they don't really bleed through or buckle what I would consider a relatively thin paper. On the few occasions when I have used the colors I have found them to be of equal quality but with brilliant colors. I own a couple prismacolor double-ended brush tips that I would say are a rung higher as far as fine art is concerned. They, however, require heavier paper (due to lots of ink) and cost a great deal more. The Kuretake markers are a fantastic deal and work perfectly for adult coloring books, little artistic experiments (in lieu of using expensive supplies), and everyday things like making greeting cards and scrapbook pages. Incidentally, it doesn't appear to be on the product description but these markers are photo-safe, acid-free, lightfast, odorless, and xylene-free.
