Hung it from the top of a large dog crate, with lots of towels and self heating mats. The feral cats love it.Trying to find a replacement bulb in the event the original burns out.

Put 2 in my 10X12 ft coop, hanging from the rafters over the roosting bar, being careful to secure and make sure nothing could catch fire. Kept the coop in the low 20s when it was below zero out. Last year had some frostbite on my rooster's comb--hoping this will prevent it this year. Only using it when temps are near or below zero and carefully monitoring to ensure safety of my birds

Our baby buns are finally old enough to be outside. I was paranoid with the cold because they were so tiny when we got them. Anyway, they love their heat lamp and their chicken coop! Haha I didn’t want to drill holes in the roof of their apartment so I stapled the chains to the inside of the roof and then ran the cord out of the vent and stapled the cord up so they can’t reach it or the heater. It puts off a lot of heat even on low it’s literally perfect because their door to the outside part of their pen is open 24/7. Oreo almost immediately flopped over super relaxed when i turned it on. I’ll update if anything goes sideways like it burns out fast etc.

This Besly Heat Lamp is nice. Seems to be made quite well, and is made to handle to work in a coop outside. I tried this in our chicken coop but I guess our coop is too big for it. It didn’t heat it up very well. When you stand near it it’s very hot, but I guess with 250 W it’s made for a much smaller area. Our coop is 6’ X 6’ X 7’ tall. We do have a lot of ventilation and are going to cover up those open screen window areas to see if it helps. The other thing I noticed is that it’s pretty bright. From what I understand, chickens can’t see this infrared light, but I noticed our chickens seemed to be restless while it was on. Maybe it was the cold weather, but for now I’m not using it until we finish enclosing the coop and find a way better way to place it. It does put out heat and I’m sure would be fine for a small coop for young chicks.
