Works great on an edge sander platen. Our sander is probably 80 years old and uses a wood platen. The old graphite was worn through, this worked great as a replacement. I had to buy two and piece them together because it wasn't long enough.

I have an aging 9x48 inch belt/disc sander on which I thought I wore out the platten. Nothing was sanding up square. The last time I changed the belt I noticed a big wear spot in the graphite pad which sits between the platter and the belt. A direct replacement part started at $76 and went up. I got this pad, cut it to fit, installed it and the sander runs like a champ. Once I cleaned of the old graphite pad the installation of the new one was easy.

My Makita belt sander pad was ruined, and I needed a replacement quickly as it was needed at work. However, the Makita graphite pad replacements didn't offer any sort of fast shipping.I took the leap and bought this graphite tape. Cut it to length and drilled a couple holes for the screws used to secure it in place.Months later, it has stood up every bit as well as the OEM graphite pad. Very happy, and the roll has enough material to do another 3 or so belt pad replacements. Delivered much faster than Makita, and for about half the price as amortized by the amount of replacements possible.
