Really nice headlamp. Light weight and functions flawlessly. Really bright and the red is probably the brightest on the market. It's sized perfect and charges quickly. Overall a great value for the money

The Sofirn D25LR is a solid headlamp that doesn’t break the bank. It features a high-CRI white light and a surprisingly bright deep red LED, both with multiple brightness settings. The red light is very useful for preserving night vision.Charging is a breeze with the USB-C port, and the included 3000mAh 18650 battery offers decent runtime. The headlamp is comfortable to wear, thanks to its lightweight design and adjustable headband. However, it can get warm on the highest setting, so it’s best to use that mode sparingly.Overall, the D25LR offers great value for its price point, delivering features typically found in more expensive headlamps.

This is my first headlamp, but not my first Sofirn product. I really enjoy the versatility and wide range of LED flashlights that Sofirn puts forth, and thought I would try out a headlamp for the first time.I wish I could give it 4.5 stars, but I can't quite give it a perfect score, look to the last part of my review for why.The headlamp is vey functional and versatile. I like the 4 settings of brightness for the white LED, and it can get very bright in the brightest setting. Sofirn knows how to create bright LED lights. The reflector is an eggshell style and it really floods the area well. The LED light can be angled in a variety of positions, and it has a positive notching to it which keeps it from slowly changing and settling downwards, that is nice. The switch end cap unscrews enough to expose the USB-C charging port, meaning that the port is protected from the elements until you need to charge it. Another nice touch. The UI is pretty simple. Just clicking the switch on and off, it will go to the memorized brightness of the white LED. If you turn it on and hold, it will cycle through the different brightnesses. If you have the light off and hold it, then it switches to the red LED and then when you hold down the switch, it cycles through the red LED brightness.Very simple and easy enough to use. The red in the brightest setting is pretty bright for a red LED, and will wash over things very effectively. I find that setting 2 or so is probably the most useful, not too dim and not too bright, and you get to keep your night vision! The only thing I am not too happy about is when I wear this over my forehead without a hat or anything, the back of the light isn't very well padded, basically just the elastic head strap is the only padding. I wish it had a slight foam pad running the perimeter of the led base. I am taking 1/2 star for this, because I suppose I can remedy that easily enough by a number of ways, but it would be nice if it came with something out of the box.

Update: I've been using the headlamp often for months now. In the original review I said that battery life is excellent. That's true only at the lowest two settings. If you need more light, you'll get about 2.5h from 3000mah cell. So, if you were using this lamp for work and need to pull a full shift, you'll need three fresh batteries. At the lowest red or white setting, it'll run for more than a day on one battery. Six-eight hours for the next highest setting. The upper two settings eat up the battery, but then, they also make a lot of light. 40 years ago, the headlamp of an automobile didn't make this much light. the housing gets warm but not hot.A potential wear item: the light "clicks" and stays in place by aluminum teeth on the lamp body against plastic teeth on the headband. The plastic is going to wear out long before the aluminum. Manufacturer should provide a spare.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++I rarely leave a 5-star review. Five stars is for an exceptional product. If it's merely as advertised, it's four stars. This headlamp is so much better than its competitors that it deserves five-star recognition. I've purchased and returned several red headlamps. They're all big and bulky, or they require you to switch through white or strobe to turn them on/off. They have battery compartments that obviously predate lithium batteries, and most of it is empty space. One crappy piece of junk after another. This headlamp was designed by someone who has a clue -- a person who apparently uses their own gear. It's usefully dim, and usefully bright. There's no useless strobe or SOS, and you don't have to turn on a white light to get to the red light. Battery life is excellent. On the dimmest red setting, this light is good for astronomy -- that's rare. The two brightest red settings are bright enough to hike a steep trail in the blackness under a tree canopy. The reflectors are just right -- not too focused, not too diffuse. The built-in USB-C charger works well. The button is easy to work while wearing gloves. This is an awesome headlamp for my purposes. This one is a keeper. That being said, it has one definite flaw: there's no protection against the light turning on in your pack if the button gets pushed into other gear. It needs a raised lip about 6mm around the button, just like the raised lip that forms when you unscrew the cap to charge the light. The battery cap can be unscrewed a bit to disconnect, but I'm not sure how reliable that is. This is the only flaw I've found with this light. Also, and this isn't a flaw, just a tradeoff: it's heavy (120g with battery), compared to my regular Black Diamond light (82g with batteries).
