I wanted to write a review after having the LitterGenie for just over 2 weeks with one bag change - I may update later down the line if there's anything that causes me to change my mind.I can honestly say this has been a gamechanger. In any normal bin, the inside of the bin would start to absolutely reek and leak to the outside - which happened with our previous workaround which was a small bin outside. But with the LitterGenie there truly is no smell at all. I do think the bags may be the main reason for this, but the whole bin and the ease of use is great. I am a little worried about the price of the refills, but I would say it genuinely does hold up to two weeks of litter (both number 1 clumps and number 2) so I'm really happy. I no longer have to go outside I can just pop it in the LitterGenie. Also to add - when changing the bag, the way the bin is designed means that no smell escapes either - a worry I had from a previous review I'd seen, but basically it clamps the bag closed and you can just use the internal cutter to cut the bag.It looks neat and isn't overly huge, and the scoop & scoop holder is great.I do think it's quite expensive for what it is, especially with the refills being needed later on, but in my opinion it's a worthwhile investment!

Great little bin to help keep kitty litters clean. Keeps smells out and is easy to clean when full. It's helped me heaps to stay on top of kitty litter.

Vivo en un departamento, así que salir al depósito de basura todos los días para dejar lo que limpio del arenero era una pesadilla! Este recipiente es fácil de usar, no deja salir los olores y después de unos días ya llevo la bolsa al depósito. Si tienes más de un gato y/o vives en departamento, te lo recomiendo ampliamente.

Anteriormente usaba un bote con tapa tradicional para los desechos del arenero, el defecto que tenía era el horrible olor que desprendía cada vez que abría el mismo cuando limpiaba el arenero. Lo anterior cambio con este bote, es muy sencillo de usar y muy efectivo. Es cierto que no desaparece el olor al 100% pero si un 80-90% si disminuye. La limpieza de la arena es más fácil cuando no huele al momento de vaciar los desechos. Falta ver la duración de las bolsitas.Lo recomiendo ampliamente.

Es de las mejores compras si tienes uno o dos gatos. Evitas dar vueltas diarias a la basura. Sieve más de una semana por corte y no deja salir olores.

Tengo que aceptar que lo compré dudando mucho, ya que varios comentarios hacen referencia a que les llegó un producto muy maltratado o incluso roto...en mi caso por suerte no fue así, mi paquete llegó en perfecto estado, con todas sus piezas y no viene roto ni maltratado, creo que venía bien protegido con bolsas y un tipo de almohadas de aire.Llego en el tiempo que prometieron.El bloque de los olores es perfecto y es muy fácil y práctico de usar. Me gustó mucho la palita que incluye por que es muy rígida y resistente! Le pongo 4 estrellas ya que algunas partes del depósito se ven muy frágiles y creo que un producto hecho y pensado para un ambiente con gatos debería de ser más resistente.

2-month review: Works like a charm. Makes cleaning the litter box just easy enough that I actually do it every day.I was concerned about the cost of refills and the plastic waste that generated, but I feel those concerns were unwarranted. I have one 10lb cat, I scoop the litter every day, and the first cartridge lasted just over two months. The cartridge refills on amazon.ca are currently priced at $26.52 for a pack of three (using Subscribe & Save), which based on my experience so far will last six months or more. Cost per month: $4.42. I believe that is great value for the ease of use and complete lack of odour.As for environmental concerns, I think the amount of plastic used per month is actually less than using an ordinary plastic bag, because the litter can sit in the Genie until it is full. No smell whatsoever. The plastic cartridge casing is also recyclable.I am very pleased. My expectations were far exceeded. I did not expect this to be actually odourless, and it really is. I have no complaints whatsoever. Use a good clumping litter, give the Genie a quick wipe-down every now and then, and forget about the smell of cat waste. Highly recommended.

Litter Genie is a cat litter disposal system that makes is easier and more convenient to scoop your cat's litter box frequently. More frequent scooping keeps litter box smells to a minimum which, in turn, makes it less likely that your cat will poop or pee somewhere outside the litter box.The way it works is this: You take a Litter Genie refill, which is basically a very long tube of plastic that is scrunched up into a plastic holder, and install it under the snap down refill holder (which is very much like a toilet seat with a lid.) There are directions included with the Litter Genie that are really good and show you exactly how to install the refill. You will be pulling down at least a foot of the film and then tying a knot in the bottom.Once you get the refill part installed, here's how to use it. When you're ready to scoop your cat's litter box, open the top lid. Scoop the poo and clumped litter into the toilet seat-like opening. When the upper area becomes full, grasp the plastic flange that is located on the front toward the middle and push down on the little button (located in the flange) while pulling the flange toward you. If you look through the top opening, you will see that pulling the flange releases the soiled litter into the bottom area of the Litter Genie. When it has passed through to the bottom, release the flange and the separator will snap back into place. This separator serves as an odor barrier so that days worth of dirty litter can be stored in the Genie without the foul smell.When the bottom becomes full, you'll need to empty it. The way you go this is to push the button on the middle front of the Genie that is located just beneath where the Genie is divided in half. Pushing the button releases the top half of the Genie so you can fold it back. You can then see the full plastic bag at the bottom. Just pull down more film from the top and then slide it into the cutter located just above the hinge in the back. It is clearly marker CUTTER. You want to be sure to leave enough film at the top of the full bag after you cut so that you can easily tie a knot to close it for disposal. Tie the knot and then lift the full bag out of the Genie. Finally, pull down about a foot of fresh film and tie a knot at the bottom. That's it.The Litter Genie comes with the Genie itself, one refill, one litter scoop, the scoop holder you hang off the side of the Genie and the instruction manual. The scoop is a good quality, plastic one but I already have a metal scoop I really like and it fits perfectly in the holder.I bought a Litter Genie a couple of years ago for my daughter, who had 3 cats at the time. She lives in a city where they have banned the plastic grocery bags, which she had previously been using. This was such a huge improvement for them over the old method because one of her cats had a health issue that caused him to make the smelliest poo - several times a day. Litter Genie made it easy to scoop immediately after he pooped and it truly kept the smell confined to the bottom of the Genie. They are still using it every day and it still performs great.I have 5 cats and I thought one Genie wouldn't be able to keep up with all of the daily waste. Then someone mentioned the silver one was on sale for ~$10, so I bought 3 for my house. (It's more of a battleship grey color than silver.) I keep one downstairs where I have 2 litter boxes and I keep the other two upstairs, where I have 4 litter boxes. This is working very well for me. With 3 Genies, I'm only having to empty them about once a week.Of course, the biggest expense is the refills. Personally, I think they are way overpriced - kinda like ink cartridges for printers. So this is a major thing you want to consider before buying Litter Genie. Looking for them on sale and on eBay and buying whenever you find a good deal can mitigate the costs. Also, you CAN use tall kitchen trash bags as a substitute for the refills. It does work and the Genie still keeps the smells trapped in the bottom, but it's not quite as convenient. Still, I like knowing I can do this just in case I run out of Genie refills and haven't ordered more.If you have a litter box in your house that must be scooped, you might like the Litter Genie as much as I do.
