Loved that this was 36” wide, this allowed for no seams on top of this old oak school teacher desk. The top of this desk was ruined by dye, and I couldn’t sand it anymore. I decided to go with this contact paper, which is extremely thick, and to make it easier for installation, my daughter and I each worked from each side simultaneously, with a wallpaper scraper, only pulling back the backing off about an inch at a time. This completely prevented us from getting bubbles. it went on beautifully! I did use a blow dryer to heat up the edges and corners for a great contact. If you have never used Peel and stick before, 2 people install is helpful.

I LOVE THIS BRAND. It was very thick. Adhesion as strong as crazy glue. People come to my townhome and LOVE my kitchen and bathroom countertops. "Did you really have marble countertops installed?" they ask? When I tell them that it's just contact paper...they are shocked and are saying that they are going to cover their own countertops in their rentals. Here's the thing. I moved to a new townhome and painted all of the walls and decorated the new place. I saved the 'countertop coverage' for last...and almost hired a professional because it looked like it could be challenging trying to make all of the lines straight. Well, the paper came in, I looked at a few videos...saw that a lot of people applied the sloppy, easy way...and it still looked GREAT!. So...I did the same thing. I did not even clean the countertops with windex or vinegar water. I used dish soap and made sure it was dry.I learned the trick of learning how to make it look great. After measuring, it's important that you only peel about 1 inch of the paper and then stick it to the surface. I used the small tool and started smoothing and applying in the middle of he adhesive paper...then I worked outward to the left and right to make sure it was securely applied. I then only peeled another inch (no more than 2 inches) at a time and repeated the process...starting in the middle. Removing very small portions of the paper as you apply is the 'key' to assuring that your job looks professional, leaving no bubbles or other mishaps.I didn't line up the next strip of contact paper, I just crossed over about an inch or three so that contact paper was attached to other contact paper -- it was perfectly fine...and still looked professional. I found that I could take small pieces and just stick them anywhere to cover any uncovered spot -- it blended perfectly. You can't tell that I did a sloppy, quick job -- at all.I started with the kitchen, then moved to the bathroom. Here's the mistake that I made...that caused a lot of bubbles and unbalanced lines -- I didn't remove the back of the paper in very tiny portions (1 to 2 inches before securing with smoothing tool). I ended up removed 6 to 8 inches at a time and then tried to smooth...this is when the bubbles started to surface and I ended up with raised lines in the paper as I smashed the bubbles together -- it still looked profresional though...and all my neighbors and friends love it!!One thing about this WONDERFUL BRAND of paper is that it is so thick that you cannot use a blow dryer to get the edges to stick as you secure the edges. With this paper, I needed to use a staple gun that was used for wood (I bought it on amazon for $12 bucks). I stapled the edge of the paper under the counter every inch or two -- I saw someone else do this in a video -- it works great!!I love this paper so much that I plan on ordering another super large role for $29 (over 43 ft) in case I ever have to replace or redo any counter top parts -- I don't want to find the product 'out of stock' or 'no longer available' should I need it.One last thing, this contact paper is SO STICKY that...if you do find a bubble, it's very difficult to just 'lift up' and smooth it out -- I had to use both hands and pull hard. If the paper is attached to other contact paper -- it's next to impossible to remove it. However, it doesn't really matter -- you can slap on stripes of paper any place you like -- AND IT WILL STICK. No glue needed...I can't say enough about this paper. I only know that I was dreading this job for 3 months, almost hired a professional, as I mentioned above. I saved this project for last (while designing and decorating my townhome) and IT WAS THE EASIEST out of every project that I had.Good luck to all of you. This is the BEST BRAND of paper as long as you use a staple gun for wood to secure the paper under the counter.
