So I received the bow the package was pierced through three times not the fault of the seller that was due to bad shipping luckily the bow wasn't broken although it did arrive severely marked up on the Siyahs the marks were definitely not due to shipping because they bubble wrap them so that was before shipping that there was also random little black paint marks underneath the clear coat on the wood and there was a crack in one of them although it doesn't seem to affect it yet, the string it came with was 3 in shorter than what was specified was needed so I didn't bother using the string that came with I did reach out to the company on multiple occasions I have not gotten a single response yet I ordered a string from somewhere else and have been using that one so far the bow has been working quite well not sure about long-term durability definitely not a fan of the hemp style string they use the wrap the connection points I'm hoping that's just for looks and there's actually something more durable underneath will update my review in time. I ordered the 55 lb one I haven't measured it yet but it definitely seems to be around that weight.

I gave this 4 stars because I have had the bow only one day.I rec'd the bow and the box was damage but the bow was in perfect condition. I love traditional archery and this bow has a definite traditional feel and look. I purchase the 50# bow and am writing this after my first night at the range. My first impressions:-In the hand...Nice bow for the $$$$. Light and simple design. Nothing fancy...built for a practical purpose. This is not a show piece and that's ok with me.-After my first shot...Fast, Smooth, quiet, and hard hitting.-After 100 shots...I like it but it is going to take some practice to get use to. My bow of choice is a Bear Montana, and it is much different feel and shooting experience.-After an evening shooting.... I like the bow and look forward to spending many hours sending arrows down range. If you are looking for a nice cost effective bow, you can't go wrong with this one. All the positive reviews should say something.

(I am a avid bow hunter and have tried my hand at being a bowyer. I have hunted many years with a compound and a traditional bow. This is a true bow and not a toy, so for first time archers, please do your homework and buy a light poundage bow. Also, please watch "how to" videos on youtube on how to string this style of bow and best practices for shooting and safety!)Shipping:I purchased the bow at the end of the year (2016) and received it in great shape. The box wasn't damaged and the bow didn't have any issues that might occur in some shipments of lightweight products. I have seen some reviews on youtube prior that showed the wooden siyahs to be scuffed with some black material, mine were clean without any scratches.Initial thoughts:The product's overall construction seems to be very good and balanced for a fiberglass bow. I haven't had a chance to do any substantial shooting with it yet, but plan to update this review once I have shot a good amount. The bow came in a nicely constructed "bow sock" and the string was wrapped around the sock. Initially I was surprised that the string wasn't a waxed and twisted string, but the string seems to be very strong and the serving on the eyes and along the arrow nock are impeccable. It was a little difficult to string at first, but this was due to my inexperience with this style of bow. Once I got it strung and started to exercise the "limbs" I found the bow to draw nicely. There were a few creaks here and there, but as any one would have, so be sure to exercise the limbs before drawing the string to any length that would be close to your full draw. I was able to shoot it the same day I received the bow, and found it to be a lot better than I had previously expected. There is a slight hand shock and wrist slap, but I didn't notice it since I was wearing a guard. All in all, at first glance this is a great bow! (I will be including more as I begin to shoot it more and more)

I bought one of these Hungarian Longbows because I love archery. This was something different that I haven't seen or used. I ordered the 55# version. I'm not sold that it's a true 55# BUT it's gotta be somewhat close. I'll measure the weight later. I've shot about 50 arrows from it so far and the only thing I'm having trouble figuring out is where the hand should be placed. If I hold it where my hand feels comfortable, the feathers contact the twine which cause wear on the twine. I'm guessing the hold should favor the lower side of the bow when shooting to keep the arrow more towards the center. I'll figure it out. Anyways, the product came as described and is actually quite nice especially for the price!! I had mine in 3 days and immediately started shooting it. The string isn't the best quality, but it works so I can't take anything away for that. This bow has shown me it's a real shooter!! I'm no traditional guru but I can shoot this just as well as my other long bows and recurves. I would have to say that with the price point taken into account and the fact it appears to be a very well made bow, you'd be a fool to pass this up if you're in the market for this style bow. Longbow Maker is a great company as is shown with their responses to questions on this product. I will be looking at possibly ordering directly from this company so I can offer this bow to consumers in my pro shop. :)

Ordered it February 13th, arrived to me March 5th (Sonoma County, CA). Hard to complain about that, 3 weeks ain't bad. The tracking seems to indicate that Longbowmaker shipped it out very quickly, and it sat for a week in China's post office before they got around to getting it out- still not too bad. You may have better luck if you order later in the year (see: not Chinese New Year)As for the bow itself, it's quite impressive. No deformities to be found. The string sucks. Whatever. You can spend the extra couple of bucks for a good string.I've shot about three arrows through it, without issue. There's some handshock, but it's entirely manageable. Mine is 55#, and it sends em flying hard. I think the twine and leather is a nice touch, whether the leather is real or not. You can always go to your local craft store and do your own custom work. For $130, I could not ask for more.As for stringing it.... Well, do your own independent research. The step-through method works if you do it right and don't torque the bow. It takes effort, but you can do it. My own research says that bow stringers won't work for these. My own experience says that it will. I was able to successfully string and unstring mine twice today using a Shooting Star Universal (longbow and recurve) bow stringer. Your mileage may vary on this.I'll be heading down on vacation in a few weeks and I plan on doing extensive shooting, and hopefully will be able to follow up after I get a good hundred arrows out of it.I'd say that this thing would make a fine piece for new shooters, but keep in mind that modern recurve with an arrow rest may be more enjoyable for others.4 stars for now, we'll see after I use it more.
