I don't speak for the baseball crowd, but instead for the big dog owners. I have a German Shepherd who is around 93 pounds and loves fetch more than anything else on the planet. I have bought him tons of different balls to play with. I have tried regular baseballs, tee balls, tennis balls, dog specific balls from PetsMart and he destroyed them all from chewing. So I saw these on Amazon and figured "why not". I must say they are the perfect product for him. They are heavy enough to be thrown relatively far and soft enough to not shatter glass if not thrown with tons of force. The best part? They are immune to his chewing and nearly indestructible (one got destroyed by a lawnmower). Bottom line, if you have dogs that are can fit a baseball in their mouth then buy this product. They are inexpensive and rugged and relatively cheap.

These work great for our pitching machines. They do not seem to show any wear. They are also safer for when the lawn mower hits them than a regular baseball, but they are shot once hit. Obviously, not something that should happen, but it is something that will happen from time to time. The kids say these sting a lot less than regular baseballs too when they don't hit it on the sweet spot. It allows our kids to continue batting longer. I've also used these with the Louisville UPM 45 pitching machine and it throws them very well.We've also used these in a powered pitching machine and you can get quite the curve on these.
