This is one of it's kind product, couldn't find any other alternative. And no need for one. As expected, manfrotto is as solid as it gets.

The 553 angle bracket is an essential component used on a tri-pod, in conjunction with Manfrotto’s 131DB horizontal support arm. It provides a horizontal surface to mount a tripod head (or any other item with a 3/8 UNC female thread), which can then be moved toward or away from the subject, without having to move the supporting tripod location. It also preserves the head’s rotational axis. Really useful if in a studio photographing subjects on a tabletop. The leading tripod leg fits under the table and the camera can be positioned on the 131DB arm reaching over the edge of the table. The 553 angle bracket is made from heavy duty machined alloy with 3/8” UNC threads, one female with a large plastic hand wheel (hand tighten to end of 131DB) and one brass slotted head, captive screw, for mounting a tripod head. The tripod head attachment point also has a further three slotted grub screws for providing further friction on the base of the tri-pod head, securing it from accidentally turning itself of of the main 3/8 screw, making it totally secure. The angle bracket is finished in Manfrotto’s signature, smart matt black and also features a high visibility spirit level. This bracket is heavy duty and very well made, it will last a lifetime, but expect the finish to get damaged quite quickly following abrasion from attached components. Now the negative bit. This is my second 553 angle bracket, I purchased my first one in 2011 and it was around £50.00 if I remember. Still quite costly, but bearable. I wanted a second one to permanently fit to a second tripod / horizontal arm I use and couldn’t believe some of the prices I was seeing. The 553 now costs up to £140.00…..needless to say, I shopped around and bought this one for £88.00, still quite a large price increase for such a simple item. I paid reluctantly as the angle bracket makes using a tripod / head and horizontal arm so much more convenient. I’m glad I bought most of my studio gear back in the early 2000’s though as I couldn’t bear today’s prices.

This angle bracket can be used with any equipment, not just Manfrotto tripods. It converts horizontal camera or head attachment to a vertical one.I use Moza Slypod horizontally in my 180 VR work. This angle bracket can be attached to the end of Slypod and provides very stable base for camera.

Expensive, but worth the money when using your center column horizontally with binoculars or spotting scope over your lap.

This is the kind of product that will be either zero or five stars. If you need a right angle tripod top, then this will work--five stars. It's small enough to fit into a small corner of your camera bag.My Manfrotto tripod has a center post that prevents the tripod from going really low. The post removes and installs sideways, which gets it low, but then the tripod top is facing 90 degrees to vertical. This device fixes that.
