The clamps seem sturdy, a polymer of some type. They come with several sets of rubber like inserts, to adapt to different size bars.I have a weight set from my childhood, with those sloppy cast locking sleeves with a square head bolt, that are secured with a wrench or pliers.I also have 2 different size bars, so the sleeve adapters work great. These were a perfect upgrade.

These clamps fit my 1" bar perfectly right out of the box. But if your bar is a little under or over don't worry because they are easy to adjust over quite a range. Open and close easy with the lever and hold the weight plates snugly into place. I also used a pair on my 1" curl bar that is threaded on each end for screw clamps. So much easier. They are well made and I believe they should last a lifetime. These are the ones you want!I wasted time ordering and returning the Yuntop clamps and the Amazon choice Dmoose clamps. Both were so small they would not go onto my exactly 1" bars. I hope this review saves you the trouble.

These barbell clips are marketed as providing greater ease of use on all kinds of 1" diameter bars. Unfortunately that is not the case on 1" threaded bars. These clips feature a collar fine-tuning adjustment mechanism whereby you twist the clamping lever in the open position to loosen or tighten the degree of closure when the clamping lever is closed. In principal that makes sense. However, because the cam that opens and closes the hinged collar provides insufficient range of motion, in order to remove the collar from the bar you first need to untwist the lever (turn counter-clockwise) in the open position to sufficiently open the clamp to easily remove it from the bar. Otherwise you need to forcefully drag it across the threads with the likely result that you will grind down the shallow threads on the inside of the clip, which are intended to gain purchase on the bar's threads for a more secure lateral grip when fully closed.Conversely, after sliding the clip back onto the bar after changing the weight plates, you need to twist the open clamping lever clockwise to tighten the degree to which the clip grips the bar in the fully closed position in order get it sufficiently tight. This is problematic for multiple reasons.- Repeatedly Big Hassle: needing to go through this process each time you change plates is a pain in the neck even if it proved to be effective in getting a comfortably tight grip on the bar (which it does not).- Tight Space to Grip the Open Lever: the open lever must be fully extended outward prior to turning it or you won't be able to twist it since it will hit the outermost plate. In that position you are then forced to grip it with your fingertips since there is very little room between the lever and the plate.- Concentration Required: you need to remember to twist the lever the same number of revolutions as you untwisted it from the secure closing grip when you previously loosened it to remove the clip from the bar. Otherwise you will have to re-tighten or re-loosen the lever to be able to fully close the clip or to get it optimally tight on the bar- Disconcerting Play Between the Plates: even taking the time to optimize the grip I've found that there's still a little play between the weight plates, which is especially disconcerting when moving a dumbbell in a more vertical position such as in performing hammer curls, waiter curls, or skull crushers, or when raising it to shoulder height prior to beginning overhead exercises such as shoulder presses.Having to go through this process each time you change weight plates is of course a big pain in the neck and far more time consuming, tedious and uncertain than simply removing and reattaching a spin collar to obtain the tightest possible grip and fit between the plates. While these clips might provide advantages relative to spring clips on smooth bars, which I have not tried, they are a big step down from using traditional spinlock collars on threaded bars.

So far, these colors are working very well. Better than anything else I’ve tried so far.I use these when I do deadlifts using a 1 inch bar 245 pounds for 10.As you can see from the pictures, these are all vintage weights, they don’t fit tight to the bar, and they are all different sizes.Using these collars you can see after 10 reps that the plates didn’t move very much at all.Maybe a quarter of an inch if that on either side.Far better than anything else I’ve tried. The only reason why I didn’t get a five is because they didn’t stay without moving at all. But this is pretty close.Time will tell her they hold up to abuse but so far these are great!

I really like these. They are adjustable and easy to adjust. They hold the plates in place on high reps low weight (that’s all I’ve tried). They are easy to use. I had trouble finding adjustable ones that work on a threaded, non Olympic size bar so was so glad to find these. They could break pretty easy because they’re plastic, but I like how light this makes them so I’m ok with it.
