I wanted a visual means of determining whether or not my coolant was flowing effectively and this old school device does just that...kind of gives my PC a Steam Punk feel!

Does what it should, looks cool doing it. If you need a flow indicator, this is a pretty good choice. The wheel is blue on one side and red on the other.

I use this on the return inlet where the flow is at it's lowest, into the Corsair D5 pump reservoir that's cooling a threadripper 2990WX with a single loop via a 360mm radiator. So it works when the pump is at normal speed and spins faster when under load as it should. Tested to about 92C CPU junction temperatures when all cores are pegged at 3GHz for an hour and it doesn't fail. I use the automotive Evans coolant.

This is my first loop. I had tested it with distilled water, and I think I didn't get it all out before filling it with the coolant, and it must have been diluted. After a couple of months the res started showing some bacteria, and the flow meter I was using stopped working. After disassembly I found that axle pin has rusted, and the pump in the res died.That flow meter was the cheapest one I could find, so I don't think it was just the diluted coolant. I replaced the res and the flow meter with this one. So far it's working perfectly after about a month and a half. I used an automotive fluid extraction tool to make sure all the distilled water was out this time before filling the loop. I like this one because it can be set up with a 180 degree flow from input to output, or a 90- degree flow (which is what I'm using).So far the flow meter is fine, and I would recommend it.
