Amana RCS10TS Medium-Duty Microwave Oven, 1000WI keep going through LG, Panasonic and Samsung microwaves throughout my home ownership and they break down one way or another - I must have bad luck? I'm done with consumer grade microwave ovens. This time I opted to go with a commercial microwave without a turntable inside. On commercial microwaves without turntables so called "flat bed" microwaves, such as this one, the microwave can heat up and cook food effectively still. They have a rotating motor that drives the stirring blades under or overtop the flatbed, which distributes the waves evenly to heat the food. So rather than a lousy turntable that turns, the microwave is distributed using spinning blades rather than spinning the food around. Having said that, does it work? yes! absolutely it does. What i found different is that the FOOD is heated and the container it is in (such as glass tupperware), doesnt get ultra hot. I found that with all my previous consumer microwaves, the container itself kept getting scalding hot. My guess is that the is is because either the stirring blades cook food differently (more efficient?) OR perhaps because this model, the magnetron is at the TOP of the microwave rather than SIDE. I'm no expert but this is a definite observation i've had with cooking food in this unit.Right when you open the box this is a different level of build quality. Heavier than retail microwaves -- it is solid and when opening/closing the door, it does NOT budge. LG/Panasonic/Samsung slides around on the countertop when i open/close the door! This one is just a handle and its SOLID. The machine does budge AT ALL. On my previous machine the door latch broke, and closing/opening was a real pain. This is a SOLID handle that quickly open/close and stops/starts the microwave FAST. No messing with push button latches. Just to prove its robust build, this oven is stackable (restaurants that need more than one can buy two and stack them on top of each other). If you tried to stack consumer microwaves that on consumer grade product, it would bend the sheet metal.Inside of the microwave is a chamber that looks robust and feels robust. There is no "cardboard" looking magnetron cover. It is a plastic cover that (i think) integrates the rotating blade for distributing the mangetron microwaves. Inside is lined with stainless steel -- VERY easy to CLEAN!!The interface is DEAD SIMPLE and FAST. Basically Manual time entry (punch in your seconds or minutes and youre done) , Or preprogrammed up to 100 "menu items" where each item can have a specific power output and time -- or you can even program a SEQUENCE of power such as "low for 50 seconds then hold and let it rest for 10seconds, then HIGH for 10 seconds.". You can see why this is handy for commercial use case --- but for me i program buttons 1 to 9 with specific seconds or minutes of time which i use MOST often... Once you memorize it, its lightning fast. I program button 0 for popcorn bag because i configured a specific timer value for oraville-reddenbacher-popcorn bags :). If you must, it comes with a bank of stickers that have timer values and labels like "popcorn" but frankly it COVERs the digits and its annoying when you want to punch in specific manual timer values. So just memorize your programs! I will mention the microwave power is adjustable and also it has a "defrost" mode as well.Note that on this commercial microwave the heat fan runs as soon as you open the microwave door. It's a bit louder than operating a consumer grade microwave. Once you close the door and the microwave time is done, it STILL keeps the cooling fan on for a specified number of seconds -- it CAN be programmed from as little as 15seconds to minutes. Just understand that there is a fan, and just because its on, doesnt mean the microwave is running. This is different from consumer grade ovens where the fan only turns on when microwave is running and turns off when its done. There is an amber (maybe around 2500Kelvin color) looking light that turns on inside the oven, when you open the chamber. Actually i wish this were a bit brighter, but it works. It stays on when cooking and off when unit powers off.The display is a VERY VISIBLE fluorescent vacuum green-ish LCD -- very retro looking. I'm very happy with this display because its BRIGHT. LG and Panasonic i've owned, for whatever reason in bad angle or bright sunlight, the display is SO poor that its barely legible. You will not have an issue with this classic retro "calculator" display. This microwave needs some space. It needs a couple inches above and around and behind the microwave so be aware of this -- it needs some decent air flow for fans to circulate. Luckily my microwave oven shelf is oversized and well suited for this one. Just be aware that you wont want to put this in a tightly fit space.Other misc customizable items are, beep tone volume, or completely mute the beeps... You can also make the microwave "done" alarm to be CONSTANT NAGGING until you open the door or just 3seconds of beeping. You can also limit the microwave time 7minutes or 60minutes . You can change cooling fan time. You can fix it so you cannot enter manual timer only use preset programs. You can fix to single digit programs OR 100.Theres one hidden additional benefit for owning a commecial microwave. PARTS. Parts for this populate microwave are easy to find and are replaceable parts. CANADA stock too -- not something you have to order from usa. If anything breaks, you are nearly certain you can find the part and repair it yourself.Of everything I mentioned, one thing to note: There is NO time of day display. Once the machine is done, and cooling fan turns off, the machine turns OFF. No display of the current time. That is fine with me.I really hope this lasts longer than my other machines. It certainly looks and feels like it will. I will definitely update this review if anything goes wrong. If it does, it's backed by manufacturer 3y warranty as well. I will see how that goes if i have to use it. But if you are asking me if you should get this for your residential home? If your tired of buying new microwaves every 4-5 years, yeah, try this? Costs a bit more than your usual consumer grade machine but i think its worth it.

This is FAR better than any of the highly-rated microwave ovens for residential use. It is incredibly easy to clean, as it has no turntable and the interior is all smooth stainless steel except for the bottom panel of the interior which is smooth plastic. No nooks and crannies. The oven door has a sturdy handle, not a push mechanism that will deteriorate and break with extended use. The exterior dimensions are comparable to a medium-sized Panasonic microwave, but the interior cavity is HUGE, similar to what you would find on a large or full-size residential microwave oven. Programming is simple and versatile, with the ability to cook at full power, 70%, 50% or 20%. There also is a countdown timer, useful for items that are supposed to be left standing for a period of time after being microwaved. This is a commercial oven, so it has a fan that operates during each cooking cycle and remains on afterwards for a short time. You can program the unit so that the fan will shut off after 15 seconds. The oven is built in the USA, not China. It seems very sturdy, and as it is engineered for frequent use in a commercial kitchen I expect it will last a long time. The manufacturer technically does not warrant the oven for residential use, but this is because their service personnel are not insured to enter private residences. I was told that they have repair facilities in most major cities, and if you have a problem with the oven you can bring it to a repair facility and they will repair it. The quality of fit and finish on the exterior of the oven is more than acceptable for a commercial unit, not quite up to ultra-high-end residential standards if one were to examine it closely, but the oven looks great on my kitchen counter.

Likes: heats stuff up quickly, easy wiping surface on insideDislikes: Can't insert it into microwave shelf because manufacturer requires one side to be openFan runs for a minute or so after the microwave is done heating. so it is noisier than residential type

We use this in our break room at work. The cook times and buttons/stickers were oddly over complicated. There are way too many options. But after reading the guide and attaching the stickers, it is now very user friendly and only requires one touch to get the microwave on. Only had it for a short time, but seems to be working great. Shipping from this seller was phenomenal!

Parecía un buen producto, pero el hecho de comprarlo desde USA hace muy difícil reclamar la garantía. No me duro ni la mitad de lo que debería y eso me molesto muchísimo.
