Was excited to purchase this reel especially when I saw the sale price only $35 AUD. But unfortunately this was short lived. During the first use I noticed that the drag kept becoming looser as I fished. Once back i checked the drag knob and found it would loosen very easily. Basically it would not stay set at the desired level. I checked inside the drag knob cover and the very small spring inside would not hold the drag knob securely. So every time you cast and move the spool etc the drag would self loosen off. The small spring id not have enough tension to hold the drag setting. I checked around to see if I could purchase a new knob but the prices I found with shipping cost was more than i paid for the reel. So this pretty well made the reel useless so i threw it out. Looking at the way this tiny spring was located inside the drag knob housing it seemed too light to be able to hold the drag settings anyway. I think this would have been a good reel if not for this that I think may be a design flaw. Or maybe this is why it was on special for only $35 instead of the usual price of around $100 AUD. DISAPPOINTED for such a recognized brand as Mitchell..So I purchased a Quantum Throttle 30 to replace the Mitchell 300. Would be interested if others have had the same issue with the Mitchell 300 reels.

Better build quality than my 50 year old Mitchell 300 reel. So smooth in it’s function.Incredible reel, good value as well.

ミッチェルにあこがれをもつ世代の者として、しっかりとしたつくりやデザインの良さは期待通りでした。巻きが重いう意見もありましたが、管釣りでのスローリトリーブには、ぶれずに安定があり、最適でした。いいものを手にできて満足です。
