It says it works for up to a 12" Disco ball, but mine is 18". It still worked just fine, as the ball is very light. I made sure to install it with anchor hooks through the screw holes instead of just using the simple hook. In a low-ceiling room this left the chain to be quite long and the ball hanging lower than I'd like. Some mechanism to shorten the chain would be nice.You'll need to run a USB-C cable to power a permanent installation, changing the batteries won't be an option. It's too bad the motor doesn't come with a rechargable battery in the first place (maybe the next design will!).The lights in the motor help the ball fill out a room with spots, but I still have a par light aimed at the ball for best effect.

Just what I wanted for at home party. Good price and easy to use. You have the option of 3 AA batteries or power it by USB Type C input. My thought is to use a portable charger to plug in to and power it up if I don't want to use the batteries. The lights are pretty bright and I like how the projected colors swim through each other like confetti circling the room.
