Exacy fit for my 2002 Explorer. Took maybe 10 minutes to install. Amazon shows that it is NOT compatible, but it is an exact replacement for my truck.

As mentioned before, this fits a 2002 Ford Explorer even though Amazon says it doesn’t. Took care of issues with brake lights intermittently working and issue with shifting vehicle out of “Park”. Super easy to install with no need of splicing wires. Like for like replacement.

Me sirvió muy bien para la reparación de un vehículo Lincoln Aviator 2003 que tenía una falla y se quedaba atorada la palanca de velocidades en parking , lo recomiendo como sustituto ideal

We were unable to purchase this from the dealer. it was discontinued. We looked on Amazon, saw this product. One of the reviews said it was purchased for a 2004 mercury sable, so we decided to try it. It was a perfect fit. No adapting.

Thanks, Paul, for the info on confirming the compatibility with the 2002 Ford Explorer XLT. This unit DID drop in and replace the original on my 2002 Explorer XLT as well. The old unit was getting stuck in the "on" position and running down the battery. Even though Amazon (and other car parts websites) say this unit does not work with the 2002 XLT, it indeed DOES fit and work fine. It's possible Ford made some changes that were not clear in the parts registry or for some other reason. I have read that this part originally was spec'd for the Ford Windstar. Regardless, I'll confirm it worked fine on my 2002 Explorer XLT (4.6 V8, 4 door, 4WD). Had it shipped next day and finished the repair fairly quickly. There are no youtube videos (at this date) that shows this exact install on an Explorer. There is a video showing the install on a Ford 150 pickup, and it's very similar. The main difference is that this switch goes on the left side of the brake pedal shaft instead of the right. So, it's harder to get to it, but it's doable.
