I don't have the ability to check this gauge against highly precise knowns, but my needs aren't more stringent than squaring equipment. I measured many pieces of metal that were supposed to be 1/8th inch thick, and a few 1/4 inch thick pieces, and they all came up anywhere from a hundredth to several thousandths under expected. However, these were all new "coupon" pieces for practicing welding, and were probably not made with precision. In fact, I measured an old sheet of 1/4" thick steel and the gauge was dead on target making me think that the problem was with the samples. I then measured a piece of 3/4" plywood and again the gauge was perfectly on target. Verdict: it's a good piece of kit. Thumbs up. My one complaint: there's some kind of micro-USB interface for exporting data, which isn't documented in the box and I haven't yet investigated online. The problem is the small flimsy plastic cover for that port is just begging to get lost. It should be tethered by a plastic fiber like the battery compartment cover.

I picked up this digital thickness gauge to measure everything from sheet metal to plastic and even some leather pieces.Right out of the box, it felt lightweight but solid, which is a good balance. The LCD screen is clear and easy to read, and switching between metric and imperial units is just a button press away and is simple to change. As for accuracy, it seems spot on. I tested it against some feeler gauges and known material thicknesses, and the readings were consistent. The spring loaded arm gives a nice, even pressure, so you don’t have to worry about inconsistent results.Overall, this little tool is a solid addition to my workshop. If you need a reliable thickness gauge for general use, this one does the job without breaking the bank.

I was a little hesitant to this since it’s a precision measuring instrument, and it’s also a no name brand. Generally high accuracy comes from reputable brands that put the time and energy into quality products. This did the job tho! It was surprisingly accurate(within two microns) when I checked it with my precision gauge blocks, so I’m very impressed! It does seem to have a little bit of error depending on how hard you use the thumb trigger but that is just like any other instrument. If you want consistent results, do consistent things with it.

This is an excellent thickness gauge at a super affordable price. I tested the accuracy with a set of calibrated gauge blocks, and it was spot on. The construction is all metal and it feels very rugged. The gearing is extremely smooth. 5 stars!

Tested with various thicknesses of different types of paper and consistently gives the same readings for each type. After about 10 uses, you should zero it out again, as it seems to go a little off after about 10 uses or so. Perfectly good for my needs. Seems well made and will last a long time.
