Our daughter, who is studying violin performance (classical) in college, has been performing with some alt country/rock bands more recently. She tried using a piezo pickup at first (which can be less susceptible to feedback) but was not happy with the overall bright/brittle sound quality. We needed to figure out a setup that was easy to use, reasonably priced, provided a great sound, and would allow her to achieve a higher stage volume level so she could hear herself and keep up with the band through the on-stage monitors. One of her teachers who also tours playing the violin suggested the setup that she uses live - A Myers Feather Pickup with Flexible Micro-Gooseneck along with an LR Baggs Venue Acoustic Preamp/DI/EQ/Tuner pedal. We purchased the Myers pickup and LR preamp. This combination has been working great for her in a live band setting. The flexible mic can be moved around/adjusted around the sound hole on the violin to help dial in the sound....much much better than the piezo pickup that we tried previously. The mic attaches to a mini preamp that attaches to a belt or clothing and has a volume knob on it. The sound from the Myers Feather pickup is amazing! That and used in conjunction with the LR Baggs venue preamp pedal allows her to get a great sound at a higher volume playing in a live setting. The preamp pedal has a notch filter to help with feedback issues that can arise with higher volumes and pretty extensive EQ controls to help shape your sound. She is really happy with the sound the Myers pickup provides and she/we highly recommend it!!!!

This is a fantastic little pickup and this is the second one I have bought. As a teacher I was looking for an easy to move between microphone which would pick up nylon string guitars for performances. Being able to easily transfer between students by just clipping into the sound hole has made my day. Also I use on both my violin and viola. The sound produced is fantastic! Highly recommend. It uses a battery and comes with a spare - make sure you read the instructions on battery replacement before doing so. It saves a bit of heart ache. Would love to have an indication on it to show if the pickup is on.

The Myres Feather is a great piece of kit and ideal for amplifying instruments like violins and violas, mandolins and lutes as well, for sure. The mini- pre-amp - part of the kit - fits neatly on your belt and works best if you use a good quality 5.65mm mono Jack out to 3 pole (3 pin) XLR in - into your amp. If you use a Jack cable for both connections the gain will be fairly low. So, get hold of a mono Jack to XLR cable; 3 metre length is ideal unless you need the longer reach of 5m +.There are several fitting/set up options and it takes some time to get all the bits working well and easily. I'm still in the initial stages of setting up my violin and viola. Using the violin first, I have so far found using a spare mini chin rest 'borrowed' from an old 3/4 size violin very stable for holding the little clamp clip in place. Okay, it's not ideal adding another chin rest to your instrument - see the picture - but it definitely works for good swan neck mic positioning - either over the E or G f hole - and has remained very stable during fairly vigorous playing. There are other options and I'm still experimenting. The main thing here is, you need to give the set up time and get help if you unsure. It's worth it because the sound is fabulous. The little mic picks up all the wonderful ambient timbre and natural volume of your instrument. Yes, once plugged in to a decent amp, you must take care of possible feedback but good amps have all sorts of ant-feedback options.Update on work in progress: Having now worked on the chin rest/launch pad idea, mentioned above, with my good friend and excellent Luthier, Brian Cohen, we now have a very stable position and set up for the Feather mic using just the spring clip supplied by Gregg Myers. Using a much reduced, cut and customized chin rest support - see two new pictures - the Feather sits happily in a slightly raised position and out of varnish scratching distance above the top table. It is easy to remove and replace and the tiny chin rest bracket , held in place by just one Phillips screw, can be moved to the left or right of the main chin rest whichever works best for you and your instrument.

Angeschlossen an akustischen Verstärker VOX 50 AG, kein Ton. Beste Kaufempfehlung!
