This is by no means the cheapest option, but for the features you get, it feels overpriced. My requirements were for something above 1000Mbps on 5Ghz, which is super easy, but also a 1Gb Ethernet port, which as it turns out is a lot harder to find. I'm using this as a wireless bridge instead of an extender. It has worked great so far, and provides around 500Mbps to my home office setup, which is more than enough for video calls and system admin tasks. Easy and fast web based setup meant it was up in minutes. Cheaper than running a cable, but your mileage may vary.

Used with a strong Asus WiFi Router, and would not remain on, stable, functional. Ended up going with and purchasing a fully integrated OEM Asus mesh unit, at higher price point and it is fabulous. Could not recommend as an solid mesh substitute esp. with fiberboard siding and newer windows. Doesn't cut it. Also, a very limited window on warranty its the coups de gras. Went through two (2) units. Just spend the money up front and get a real mesh setup, designed from the ground up. Not a good patch for that. Does a okay job for printer extension of your printer does not have WiFi built-in.

Our older home has tons of brick and masonry walls that seem perfectly designed for blocking wifi signals. We had tried various solutions over the years including the use of wifi extenders, but with limited success. We then solved the problem with a Netgear Orbi mesh system, which works great throughout the house. But, there was still a dead area outdoors...We wanted to have reliable wifi signal to an outdoor security camera, and the brick walls just weren't permitting that. After some research, and trusting Netgear products, we got this AX1600 extender. In short, it works perfectly and extended the wifi signal where it needed to go. Instead of having to buy another mesh system satellite ($$$) that takes up a fair amount of room, this one is a straight plug-into-an-outlet type that saves space, money, and headaches. Simple to set up, practically plug and play. One great thing about the AX1600 is that it uses the same router name and password as the router, so you don't need to hassle with those stuped 'NAME_EXT' kinds of things I've seen (and had to use) before. Instead, it just adds another spot to the mesh system. Pretty cool, especially since it works so well. This extender also has easily visible feedback on the front to tell you how well it's receiving signal. Ours is green all the time, indicating strong signal, so that's great, and the outside device is reliably connected these days. We're very happy with this extender, and are kind of amazed at how well it solved the problem!

Bought this refurbished. Wanted to improve my signal out near the shed. I had a older TP Link extender, but it was annoying having to use separate network SSIDs and swap between them. I have a Netgear Nighthawk 7800, which is a fairly good router. I didn't want to go full into a whole new mesh system, and this extender is advertised to work as a bit of a middle ground solution. At $35 I felt it was worth a try. Setting it up required a phone app. I'm not a fan of downloading apps for really anything, but it was the price to pay for using the device. Setup was a little more complicated than plug and play, but nowhere near as complicated as setting up a bridge or something like that. I could see my parents or grandparents struggling to understand how to set it up though.Anyway, it works as advertised. Plenty of signal strength and speed at the shed now and all with a single auto switching connection.

So I've got a two unit Netgear Orbi mesh setup in my house and 400mb/second internet, but the old "family room PC" with a several years old wireless-N adapter could barely pull 30mb/second from the router 35 feet away. I looked at getting another Orbi satellite to hardwire to the desktop, which would have cost $150 or so. At around $40 refurbished, this extender was about the same price as a decent entry level USB wifi adapter and has an ethernet port so I could hardline the computer into it. Installation isn't too complicated, though I had to use the online instructions since the Nighthawk phone app couldn't find the extender. Once installed, I've been getting 220-240mb/second on speed tests. The wifi extender uses the same SSID as my mesh network, so you don't have to manually switch to it, which is an added bonus. Overall I'm very pleased.
