A filter basket removal tool? Yep! Is it essential? Well, no. Could you use a screwdriver instead? Yeah, probably. But, it does work really well and looks kind of cool! I do like that it's finished in matte black which matches most of the espresso tools I own. I also like that it's designed so the tip slides easily under the edge of the baskets and stays there as I pry them up. The angle is "just right"!So yes, I think it does a much better job than a screw driver. Plus, I don't have to go to my toolbox to get one because this tool sits right at my coffee station all the time!!!

Normcore typically makes excellent coffee accessories and this portafilter removal tool is no exception. It is made from thick metal with a pleasant matte black finish. The tool is generously sized and easy to grasp. It makes it quick and simple to remove the portafilter basket from my Normcore portafilter handle. Previously I would need to use my nails, so this is much nicer. All in all... works great.

Iti s a flat piece of metal plate with a nice matt black finish. The prying end is narrow as it should be. It doesn't flex as I use it to pry loose a portafilter basket. If you have a bottomless portafilter, you should be able to push the basket out from the bottom. but if your portafilter is not bottomless, or if you have a very tight portafilter spring, or, like me, have a tight spring and a deep groove in the SWORKS DESIGN basket, then this basket removal tool is perfect. The only downside is it is $12.99, which is a little high for what it is. $7.99 to 9.99 would be more reasonable. But if you need one, I recommend it.
