Ideal for first time wood burner. Arrived quickly and works well. Supervision needed for younger kids because it does get very hot!

My 8 and 9 year old grandsons were anxious to get busy with this! It contains a nice starter pack of materials and the burning tool heated quickly and sufficiently to work well. It is nice to have something to draw their attention away for "electronics".

Bought this for our grandson's upcoming visit. He's 12 years old. I'm not sure who enjoyed it most - our grandson or his dad - but there was someone using this all the time during their 1 week stay. So much fun for both of them. They especially liked finding designs on the computer, and then tracing them on to the wood with the carbon paper (Minions were a huge hit) Turned out some very nice keepsakes!

I like this kit. The pen is best for a beginner, who is just learning to find what stroke works for him/her. The only drawback is that, although the handle is wrapped in rubber to stay cool, after a while (1,5 hours) it does get a little hot. Also, sand paper was listed, but not included in the kit. That wasn't a big deal though. Overall, I really like this kit, especially the pen itself - it is sturdy and well made.
