My little one has always refused a bottle so I taught him to use a straw cup at 5 months.This cup has been exclusively used for water when he got older, but the straw is thin and soft like the one he learned to drink from. I like that there is NO bite valve and he can't pull the straw out of the cup. Even with extra parts, it is easy to clean. The annoying part is that the straw is a harder material at the bottom and does not allow him to get all of the water from the cup.

Overall I like this cup and do recommend it. It is easy to hold, easy to drink from and has a nice cap to keep it clean when traveling. It says for 18 months and up, but I have been letting my 13 month old use it and she is doing very well with it.If flipped upside-down, this cup leaks out 1 straw-full of liquid. When upright or sideways it seems fine so far. However, we have some other brand cups that are leak-proof and there is a trade-off between how easy a cup is to drink from and how leak-proof it really is. Another cup we have that is very similar to this has a valve in the middle of the straw to stop it from leaking, but it also makes it 4x the effort level to get water out and my kid doesn't seem to drink as much. Also, my kid hasn't been flipping it upside down so for us it isn't a big issue (at least right now).My only other note is that I wish that the top cap piece would come off for ease of cleaning. It is manageable to clean, but would be much easier with that being removable.Overall I am really liking this cup.

I ordered 2. The first one the rubber seal would not stay in & developed a leak partway down the cup after about 3 weeks. 2nd one appears to be ok yet.
