I purchased three of these in two different sizes and all three have now broken after a 6 months to a year of ownership and very light fishing. The issue is when you take the spool off the rotating part is held in by one nut that threads onto a shaft that is plastic. Over time it wears out and the real can no longer turn. Waste of money. Go buy a KastKing reel for a few dollars more.

Awesome reel. I compared it to the daiwa strike force and this reel definitely wins. Drag is great while the strikeforce drag gets stuck sometimes. And this reel is overall very smooth

Don't let the secret out. These inexpensive reels are great. They are easily worth 2x or 3x the price. I use the 40 size for bass, pike, even schoolie stripers. 30 is great for my ultra light trout setups. drag is nice and smooth which is great with 4lbs line. Best part is I don't have to worry about them. If the kids get it full of sand or it ends up on the bottom of the lake. O well. My oldest one is on season 3 and no issues yet.

I'm definitely no expert, but I'm an avid creek & small river fisherman. I've been floating & fishing in my kayak for over 10 years, & light/ultralight gear is the way to go. I'm near a gold mine of smallmouth fisheries & trout streams, so I've got a lot of first hand experience. I have an array of river gear (too much honestly) & own a few Okuma Alaris 20's & Okuma Ceymar 20's. I would say those reels are considered my bread & butter when it comes to river fishing. Now that I've been fishing a lot more with friends & family, I wanted some gear that I could use as my lend out gear, without lending out my more "expensive" gear. Avid fishermen know how it is when someone wants to use one of your rod & reels... kinda makes you a little nervous. I believe in Okuma gear, & their products have exceeded my expectations. So, I decided to purchase the Aria 20 & pair it with an older Lew's ultra light rod I had sitting around. I am SUPER IMPRESSED with this reel. I've owned 'cheap' reels in the past & most of them feel really cheap. Not the ARIA! This thing actually feels like a high end reel. Not sure how Okuma does it with a 1BB design, but it's got a smooth cast, smooth retrieve, & instant anti-reverse. No reel I've ever owned under $20 has ever performed like this. It feels really well made. Some $20 reels I've owned had plastic parts & barely lasted a fishing season. Time will tell, but I think this reel will last many years. I might even purchase another & give it to my nephew who loves to fish as much as I do. Always grease & lube new reels out of the box. I like to take the handle off completely & use a little marine grease in the casing & around the bearings. Also, when spooling the reel for the first time, I use a little Reel Magic spray around the spool & on the line. Makes the gear last longer & gives you a great fishing experience right away.
