Very complete assortment of 1/2 watt resistors. Just about any values you’ll need. Every value in a labeled pack of 10. Very convenient.

It's not within the 1% tolerance range. Just because the color code on the resistor indicates a 1% tolerance doesn't mean it actually meets that specification. I purchased these resistors to rebuild a 50-year-old tube measuring device. The original device contains carbon resistors that are over 50 years old. Over time, carbon resistors tend to drift in resistance.I tested the new resistors, which include more than 10 different values, and found that their actual tolerance ranges from 1% to 10%. Images 1 and 2 show the new resistors, while images 3 and 4 show the old carbon resistors. After comparing all the replaced old resistors with the new ones, I discovered that the old resistors were more accurate than the new ones.Furthermore, the leads on the new resistors are too thin. They don't seem to match the specifications of a 1/2W resistor. The leads appear more appropriate for 1/4W resistors rather than 1/2W.In comparison to other brands I’ve purchased, the leads on the 1/2W resistors are typically between 0.57-0.6mm in diameter. However, the current ones are only 0.41mm and are quite soft, unlike those from other brands, which are stiff.

First off, I do not recommend this kit for a starter kit, or even really in general. It might seem nice to have so many resistors values, but most of these values you will never use. This has *nearly every standard value* from 1ohm all the way to 10Mohm. Incredible! But, a huge pain to sort. Also, there are certain resistors you'll use way more often, like 10kohm, but you're getting 10 of each. Lower ohm resistors also benefit from being able to dissipate more heat, so you'll often want those in, say, 1W or 3W depending on the application (especially audio). With that in mind, these are some great 1/2W resistors. Not quite 1% precision per my DMM, but I didn't find any that were off by more than ~1.5% which beats the last couple packs of precision resistors I've gotten. You can always combine in series or parallel to get the specific resistance you need. These are also some of the better leads I've used lately. Oh, and for sorting -- these are all stuffed in a box, but in 15x groups of 10 near values, so it's actually not too bad find the specific set I need. I have small drawers that these will get sorted in though.

These come as sets of 10 per value, each in a labeled zip bag, with groups of 10 bags stapled together. The good news: they're sorted by resistance value, hooray! The bad news: you almost have to un-staple the bags to get at the contents, which means you lose the organization. I found that I could "wind up" a taped length of resistors and fish it out of the bag without undoing the staple, but it's more trouble than I prefer. Then again, a tackle-type box with 150 slots would add a LOT of expense. For the 750K resistors, I measured values from 755K to 725K. There were only a couple that were out of tolerance on the low side, but they were there. For the 560Ω resistors, I measured from 556 to 544, with about half of them slightly out of tolerance on the low end. I reproduced this with two separate meters, but I can't guarantee that both meters weren't slightly out of calibration. The leads on these are 0.40mm diameter, which is quite low for 1/2W resistors. They should be at least 0.6mm. Unfortunately, skimping on lead diameter seems to be the new norm for low-cost resistor assortments.I guess my bottom line on these is "OK". I do LOVE that they arrived usefully sorted, but I'll treat them as 5% rather than 1%, and I'll be mindful of the lead diameter when I'm looking at applications.
