These are essential tools if you plan to DIY the torsion springs on a garage door! They're pretty much indestructible. These, a Vise Grip, 7/16 socket wrench, and a couple of youtube videos helped me correct a bad commercial installer's work who replaced broken springs. He didn't tension the springs correctly and it resulted in burning up the motor on my garage door opener, less than 6 months after his work. Note: Wear eye protection and pay attention to a detailed video on how to! For $20, including tax and delivery, these saved me at least $200 for a service call to make minor adjustment and I'll have them for the next time a spring breaks.

These are the exact tool you need for winding the springs on a torsion style garage door. I contemplated making my own, but these were such a time saver and a good value. Grips are handy and effective. Rods are chamfered for easy insertion and fit the tension cones well. I was confident in using them. As well made as finished rod of steel can be.

What can you say about two shiny steel bars with grippy handles except they feel great. Never thought I would need these tools but feel safer knowing I have the right tool for servicing my garage door.

I used the winding bars almost immediately after getting them. The bars felt strong and I really liked the rubber grips on the ends. It was the first time I did a service on my dual torsion spring garage door and after watching YouTube videos the bars performed their critical job of holding torsion energy while I replaced the rollers in the lowest door brackets on both sides, removed and cleaned up rust/painted one bracket and replaced one damaged cable. I really did take my time and double checked every move I made around the torsion springs. I also made sure that there were no distractions or other people in the garage when I was doing the service. Overall I really liked the winding bars and look forward to keeping our garage doors in tip top shape for years to come.
