I did have to order this 3 times to get one that works. First one died at 49% lasting only 2 hours in the phone while my son played games.2nd battery would only charge to 70% then a week after it only gave a white battery on a black screen and couldn't use phone at all. When plugged into the wall it would just keep boot looping.3rd battery is in now charged from 2% to 100 in about 4 hours . I'll let u know if I have problems after month. So far so good.Also vendor refunded very quickly when original 2 didn't work . Thank you

So bottom line, I was successful in replacing my defective Pixel 4 XL battery with this one - BUT:The process was extremely difficult, time consuming and potentially dangerous. For one thing, the original battery had already been professionally replaced with a factory authorized one about a 1.5 years prior. Upon opening the case and removing the necessary screws, I could not readily pry the battery away from its *unnecessary* (in my opinion) adhesive backing. Over the course of the next two hours, I was finally able to remove the battery, but by this time the battery was very deformed and I feared that it might burn at any moment - so much so that I did some of the work outside. That, plus the fact that there are two micro ribbon cables in contact with the back of the battery and these had gotten cought up in the black adhesive glue strips. This situation required a lot of patience as I gradually worked to free up the cables, risking tearing them in the process. Not fun at all. The rest of the installation took only a few minutes and everything worked fine. Keep in mind though, that when you replace a factory authorized battery with one of these, you lose wireless charging in the process. I'm OK with that, considering that my 4 XL is 4 years old and I will be replacing it later this year. My repair job, though successful, was not a job that the average person would want to attempt. In fact, I was surprised with my own success.

My phone is alive again!The kit has everything you need to replace the battery (except for the heating gun/hair dryer). It can be a bit tricky to open the phone but overall it was better then I was expecting.My only issue is that the instructions that came with the kit are not very clear, I had to check online for more guidance.It's been a week and my phone is working fine.Update: 3 months and the battery stopped working.

I bought this kit in part because it includes the case adhesive to replace the adhesive you have to cut through to service the battery.There is no pull tab on the battery. However, the original battery's pull tab failed and I had to use alcohol to remove the original battery without using the pull tab, so it probably doesn't make much of a difference.There is no detailed instructions on how to apply the adhesive. That had me stumped for a bit until I found some information on the iFixit forum that then linked to a video that showed how to do it.There are extra items in the kit which are not clearly explained in the included instructions. I think the credit-card sized clear plastic was maybe meant to help you reach under the battery to cut the adhesive after applying alcohol? Not sure about the black spatula.The spudger, along with a heavy dose of 99% IPA was useful for working off the old adhesive off the frame.In the end, it worked out. Too soon to know how well the battery holds up, but it got rid of the dreaded "can't read the battery" problem.

There's a YouTube video by How-FixIT called "Google Pixel 4 XL Battery Replacement". At time index 9:52, he starts applying the adhesive. Notice that he has just the blue transparent part of the adhesive sheet with a small white outline. There's actually three layers to the adhesive sheet in this kit -- a blue non-adhesive plastic layer, a black adhesive layer that's very difficult to see without pulling apart the layers, and a white non-adhesive easy-to-peel layer.You want to make your sheet look like the sheet in the video -- it is possible. If you bend the outside strip harshly, the adhesive will start to separate at the seam that you can easily see cut in the white layer, and then you can get your fingernail or a tool in between the blue plastic and the black adhesive, and pull out the large middle section of adhesive and white layer that you don't need. Then your sheet will match the video.From that point on, the adhesive is very straightforward to apply as shown in the video -- but be sure not to mess up alignment because as soon as the adhesive touches the phone back, it easily gets stuck. Take your time, make sure you're comfortable, have good lighting, and easy finger positioning to get it exactly right.Three more tips about earlier steps:1. I barely needed any heat on the back -- the transparent thin business-card-like plastic was far more useful than the "guitar picks" for removing the back cover adhesive. Work a corner of the plastic around the edges of the back between the back cover and the rest of the phone -- if you use a little heat, it becomes much easier, but you don't need very much.2. Before removing the adhesive from the replacement battery itself, place it into the battery slot to see how the cable lines up. I found mine only lined up well if the battery was positioned just right in the slot -- and I found out after which made the cable more stressed than it should be, especially compared to the stock battery.3. Remove extra adhesive from the replacement battery that would overlap with the circuits when the replacement battery pressed into the battery slot. I did this by partially peeling the adhesive off the replacement battery by hand for sections I wanted to remove, and then cutting the partially-peeled adhesive with regular scissors and pressing where I couldn't cut back down. Doing this makes the battery replaceable again in the future.I paid a little over twenty bucks for this kit, and I consider it a good value given the quality and completeness of the tools and parts involved. I just wish the instructions were less terse as I really struggled with some sections -- especially the adhesive. I hope this review saves future buyers a little time and frustration.
