The bottomless portafilter fit my bambino plus perfectly and is awesome for diagnosing my coffee extraction. After you prepare your puck, you can start extracting and view the flow from the bottom. It should look even without sputtering or uneven channeling. The coffee coming out should have a nice crema.

This protafilter doesn't disappoint. Many aftermarket portafilters I have tried usually have one issue or another, often being either the grip tends to come loose, or don't fit the machine well. I'm happy to say that this one worked almost perfectly with my brilville Bambino Plus. I say "almost" because while I am able to install it, as I tighten, it gets tight rather quickly, before I reach the middle point (where. you would tipicaly have the grip). So it's a bit off centered when installed. I can move it towards the center but it gets really tight, and makes it unnecessirily difficult to remove.Anyway the fit and finish is superb.. Great glossy chrome finish and the handle looks great, though a bit plasticky looking (despite being actual wood, as far as I can tell). Perhaps my favorite part of this is the portafilter holder that it comes with. Now I have a nice spot on my espresso machine to dock my portafilter which gives my. counter a less disorganized appearance as it did before with the portafilter sitting loosely on top of the machine.

Likes:~Seems well made, should be durable~Handle weight felt good, but it's a little long for the purpose~Easy to cleanDislikes:~The espresso shot didn't pull as evenly as I would like, but I may just need to adjust the grind of the coffee~Overall was less impressive than other aftermarket ones I've used, but still may be a good value depending on cost; I haven't done comparison shopping so can't speak to retail value.

I had a bottomless portafilter that was my regular go-to, replacing the stock portafilter that came with my Breville Infuser (BES840XL) which, like other Brevilles, use a 54mm portafilter. The advantages of the bottomless over a standard portafilter are many, even with the increased splatter that tends to come with the bottomless PFs, I find that the results are more consistent and even sweeter than with the traditional PF, using the exact same beans, grind, tamping (spring loaded Normcore), and machine. The only downside I found with my prior bottomless is that when I tried using it a recently acquired wooden tamping station, the old PF would not hold steady due to the shape of the head, where the PF head meets the handle. This will become evident in a second.This PF arrives in a simple brown cardboard box, and the only accessory included is a plastic holder that you can affix with the adhesive backing to your espresso machine to hold your PF. But the main thing is the bottomless porta itself - it is hefty and feels sturdy, with a nice, thick wooden handle (photo 1). What drew me to this PF is the shape of the handle, or more specifically where the head meets the handle (photo 2), you can see in this side view that there is a curve in it, very similar to the stock Breville. In the third photo you can see how another brand (photo 3, upper) compares with this PF (photo 3, lower), that curved shape is critical when placing it in a tamping station (photo 4), and allows the PF to rest completely level. Not pictured, the other branded PF or any other PF without this curve, will not sit level and requires putting a towel or other object to hold the PF level, not very satisfactory.Quality: 5, design: 5, results: 5 (ymmv, pulling good shots can be a very finnicky process with so many variables to control, but this PF will not be one of the variables to worry about)
